A Canadian team hasn't won the Cup since 1993 (I still haven't forgiven Marty McSorley for that year's game 2). I'd be okay with it this year...
I have heard there are 2 competing companies trying to get an expansion team here in Atlanta. Have they not learned? We have had 2 already and both left for Canada. Third time is the charm?

TL;DR:
1. GOP state representative has ectopic pregnancy, goes to hospital.
2. She needed a specific drug.
3. Under FL's new abortion law, doctors were afraid that they would lose their licenses if they administered said drug.
4. It took several hours to get things sorted out, during which time her condition deteriorated.
5. She finally received the drug, and has recovered.
6. She blames liberals for her plight.

Florida man hijacks Key West sightseeing train for meth-fueled joyride on birthday

All aboard the crazy train!

A man in Florida was arrested on his birthday Friday after authorities caught him absconding with a trackless sightseeing train, and even picking up passengers, while high on meth.

Jonathan Patrick Winslow was celebrating his 57th trip around the sun on a raucous Independence Day when he turned up at the Conch Tour Train Depot in Key West and allegedly weaseled his way into conducting one of their vehicles.

The state has a GDP of $1.34 trillion in 2024, an A+ economy score, 1.4% job growth, an AAA credit rating from Moody’s, and $185 billion, or $13.8% of GDP, in international goods trade.

<snippage>

DeSantis touted that the state has the lowest amount of state workers per capita, lowest debt per capita, no income tax, second-lowest spending per capita, the top public higher education system, the lowest in-state tuition, universal school choice and is number one for new business formations.
Florida scores first place in CNBC’s economy rankings for 3rd straight year

Basically, the law allows Florida to use any method of execution that hasn't been found to be unconstitutional. Arthur Charles Herbert Runcie MacAdam Jarrett, perhaps your time has come?!?

We've received allegations that local government officials across the state have been instructing their staff to delete, alter, or fabricate information before Florida DOGE site visits.

This is not acceptable.

FDLE digital forensic specialists will support auditors from Florida DOGE and FL CFO @GovGoneWild.

We are putting local governments on notice: any effort to mislead our DOGE teams, conceal city or county activities, or pressure staff to be less than forthcoming or truthful will not be tolerated.

LOL. "If we don't find liberal malfeasance, then there must be a coverup." DeSantis and his goon squads are such a joke.

Unearthing the Past: Remains of America’s First Settlers Discovered Under a Florida Wine Shop

In the heart of St. Augustine — America's oldest continuously inhabited European-established city — archaeologists have made an astonishing discovery beneath an unassuming wine shop: a colonial-era burial site dating back to the late 1500s.
During renovations at the shop, located just steps from the iconic Castillo de San Marcos, excavators uncovered seven skeletons, including three children and a young European woman, all believed to be among the earliest European settlers in North America. Pottery shards and artifacts found nearby date these remains to between 1572 and 1586, the same period when Pedro Menéndez de Avilés and his crew were establishing the first permanent Spanish foothold in what would become the United States.

Archaeologist Carl Halbirt emphasized the weight of the find: “What you’re dealing with is the very foundation of St. Augustine. It’s a humbling experience. We approach this with the utmost respect.”

The bones offer a rare and intimate glimpse into the challenges faced by early settlers: malnutrition, disease, and the harsh realities of colonizing a new land. The presence of children’s graves speaks to the fragility of life during this era — and the high cost paid by those striving to build a new world.

As science unravels more about who these individuals were — where they came from, how they lived, and how they died — their silent stories breathe new life into the cobbled streets of St. Augustine. What other secrets might lie just beneath our feet?

I've read 140 Billion dollar impact from Canadians not traveling to FL and the Alabama coast

and this doesn't factor in the Blue State Yankee snowbirds that are deciding if they want to come. I was at a wedding with a bunch of people from Wisconsin and Michigan recently, all regular FL visitors and all were talking about skipping their annual FL trip and going to Canada for a long trip over the summer to "support our northern neighbors who are getting dumped* on"
Florida sets new tourism record with 34.4 million visitors in Q2 2025

"Domestic travelers accounted for 91.5% of the total, with 31.5 million Americans traveling to Florida. Overseas visitation grew by 11.4% from the same period in 2024, reaching 2.3 million, while 640,000 Canadians also traveled to Florida. "
