Alabama 2025 SEC regular season champion

IMO it should be so. Time to scrap the SEC Champ Game. TX A&M is sitting pretty and doesn't have to risk another loss. It was ground breaking at the time, but that time has passed thanks to the CFP. However, TV $ is driving college football these days and fewer games probably isn't going to happen. I mean, really, what's the point of it now?

Remember CKD told Kirby Smart (after beating them in Athens) that "we'll see you again''. Wouldn't surprise me if we beat them Saturday to be seeded such that we have to play a third time. There are so many things wrong with college football these days...from NIL, stupid portal windows, CFP committee etc.
Why can't we clean this up? There must be some big money (TV) that likes the status quo. Chaos equals entertainment I guess. I don't trust any of them to do what's best for the game.

And the UGA media talking heads already have the talking points in line “if we beat them, they should be out of the CFP” , “they would have three losses. Other two loss teams are more deserving”.

Wait, didn’t Alabama go 7-1 in the conference, finish first, and BEAT UGA AT HOME? There is only one reason you want them “out”. Because if you face Bama for a third time in the CFP, Kirby better have his staff up to speed on the Heimlich maneuver.

Do y'all notice how quiet the SEC is being about all this? They are sitting back and daring this committee to leave Bama out if we lose, and, as Josh Pate said, they will burn it all down if that happens.

Both UGA and Bama should be locks for the CFP, regardless of the game's outcome. You can't have the committee say last year that they will not punish a team that loses a CCG, using that as a way to keep SMU in and Bama out. Then turn around a year later and punish a team that loses a CCG to keep Bama out again.

If it happens, at the very least, I think the SEC will be the first major conference to consider ending their CCG. I don't care how much money is made on the game; no conference will want to continue these games if they are going to be used as a reason to leave teams out of the CFP.

Look at the ACC. Why do they want to play their game this weekend? If Duke wins, they could end up with no teams in the CFP. If the regular season determined their champion, then they'd have one in as an auto-bid.

I hope you're right about the SEC and CFP. We went to 9 conf games AND a Power 4 opponent and it still looks like 11-1 against nobody will get you in every time. If Bama loses Sat and doesn't make the CFP,
then Commish Sankey and Co will look like they were played (by the Big10 and others). Tough pill.
 
While it's not an "official" award, the concept SHOULD matter to the committee. Not only did we have the best winning record in SEC play, but we did it against a much harder schedule than A$M played. It's really a shame too. They may get exposed in the playoff because of their weak schedule. I mean, UTa is not exactly a "strong" team record wise and yet they beat them.

FWIW, I hope we play like "winning" against Georgia is our only shot at the CFP because I know the collective Bama Nation doesn't trust the committee to do the right thing any more than assigning a fat kid to guard the cookie jar!

If Bama is left out, Sankey should immediately cancel the 9th conference game and then call out ND, OSU, IU and Texas Tech. It must be nice to avoid a tough schedule and, in ND case, not have to deal with a CCG while still being pretty much a lock for the CFP.

Quite frankly, the current AP top 12 should be our playoff teams. It is a joke that JMU and/or North Texas can even sniff the playoffs with their high school schedules. They could steal a spot from more deserving teams.

Shot, even Tulane sniffing the CFP is a joke in my book. Auto-bids are stupid. No team ranked around 20 should even be part of the thought process for this thing.
