Alabama 2025 SEC regular season champion

Could be that the Big10, 12 etc like seeing us canabalize each other and then the CFP finds excuses to leave a deserving team out. Either SOS matters or it doesn't. Does anyone think BYU would beat Texas on a neutral field? And honestly, as far as the Ntl Champ goes... had you rather be Bama, GA or Tex A&M right now? CFP wasn't right last year and it still isn't if we get left out. IMO, we need something more quantifiable to rank teams than a committee room full of biases, wrong-headed opinions, ever changing criteria etc. Might as well go back to "polls". Just come up with some solid rules and stick to it. Fair to all.

I just had a friend ask me my thoughts on this whole thing. “What if we lose would they leave us out?”
I think wholeheartedly we’d get left out. The powers that be hate us. Be it because they Bear Bryant wouldn’t let their favorite childhood team have success, the idea that Alabama is a wholly racist state, disagreements politically, or the disdain for the run we’ve been on athletically in various sports for the past decade plus, Alabama is hated. I feel like I’d we win we’ll get a home game first round, and UGA will travel while if UGA wins they’ll get a first round bye. If we lose they will make up whatever talking points they need to in order to kick us to the curb.

If Bama is left out, Sankey should immediately cancel the 9th conference game and then call out ND, OSU, IU and Texas Tech. It must be nice to avoid a tough schedule and, in ND case, not have to deal with a CCG while still being pretty much a lock for the CFP.

Quite frankly, the current AP top 12 should be our playoff teams. It is a joke that JMU and/or North Texas can even sniff the playoffs with their high school schedules. They could steal a spot from more deserving teams.

Shot, even Tulane sniffing the CFP i a joke in my book. Auto-bids are stupid. No team ranked around 20 should even be part of the thought process for this thing.
I’m still tripping off the fact that a 7-5 Duke made their conference championship game. The same conference that snuck 2 mediocre teams in last year.

I just wish somebody would have the guts to put their foot down and make ND join a conference, give the G5 their own playoffs, and scrap that 9-game conference schedule. The bar keeps moving every year so that we either kill each other in the playoffs and give these other teams easy paths as if going 11-1 in the Big 12/ACC/B10 is anywhere near the same as doing it in the SEC

Disney is running the show. If we lose, they will decide that there will be a more hype worthy team to put in the playoffs and direct the committee to make it happen.
I'm not completely convinced that ESPN directs the committee on which teams to include, although it would not shock me.

I 100% believe that once the teams have been selected that ESPN is involved in the seeding to create better matchups or potential matchups in later rounds.

I also do not believe Chris Fowler at the beginning of every rankings/selection show when he says they have not seen the results. Please, they've been discussing them and coming up with their talking points for hours.

Saying that the Mouse doesn't have significant input about the playoffs is naive in the extreme. The committee will go to great lengths to try to get as many differerent conference teams in as possible. And they will do a double twisting back flip to prevent an all SEC final.

I'm not saying that TV viewership should be a factor in who gets into the playoff, but if it was, then ESPN would be doing back flips to have as many SEC teams in the playoff as possible. Look at this list of what college football teams are the most viewed:

Alabama averages 8.14 million viewers per game. 800,000 more than second place UGA. Ohio State at number 7 is the most watched non-SEC team. Every SEC team outside of Kentucky and Miss St are in the top 20 of viewership. That means 14 of the top 20 most watched teams are in the SEC.

No actually it’s not a joke. We don’t have divisions anymore. If this were 1991, we would be the SEC champions and would be headed to the Sugar Bowl.
But it’s not 1991 and the SEC regular season champion is the winner of the SECCG. To claim otherwise sounds too Barn-like for my taste. But if the SECCG is eliminated (and it should be IMO) then I’m right there with you.

Woof. I rarely feel like a thread should be deleted but talking about "regular season SEC champions" sounds like something a poverty program would do.

Idk if we will but we can beat this UGA team again. Do that and be the actual SEC Champs
