Alabama Basketball Roster Tracker 2026-2027

It's becoming true that the hardest part of "recruiting," other than having a large bag of money, is evaluating HS players.

Take Davion Hannah from last year. The dude was more highly rated in Wisconsin than Allen, and he looked the part as a 6'6" guard. I thought he might have been one of our better players last year. But, his game never made an impact last year and now "he gone!"

I'm afraid this will become the norm going forward. I think we still recruit HS players, but if you don't come in and make a big impact as a true freshman, you will probably have to hit the portal by year 2. At that point, coaches will find a proven guy from the portal to replace you the next year!

So, I really hope of our 3 freshman at least 2 of them see significant minutes and make a big impact. Richardson would seem to be the "no brainer" pick, but we'll see how it goes. I have a feeling CNO and company really like these 3 guys and are expecting at least a couple of them to make a big contribution to the team this year!

Just from listening to Oats at the Regions Pro Am, sounds like they are satisfied with the roster how it is. I'm sure they are keeping their eyes open but we may have our roster for next season.

Did the staff determine that Hannah just wasn't going to develop as needed? Curious because he's still in the portal with no home. Any possibility he might come back or has that ship sailed?

I thought Hannah was injured early in the season and sat out after that. Maybe it was too late to get him back into the rotation or he was still hurt.
Preseason CNO played up Hannah about being the next Herb as far as defense goes. He played a fair amount early. It seemed to me that he turned the ball over a bunch. Then suddenly he was out for the season.

I remember Hannah injuring his tailbone while attempting to dunk against Syracuse and playing a couple of games after that.

Here is a comment from this article:

Hannah last played for Alabama on Dec. 17 before coach Nate Oats said a reported medical condition would sideline him for the rest of the season. Oats also confirmed that the Milwaukee product would seek a medical redshirt, which would maintain Hannah’s four full years of remaining eligibility.

Here's a couple good articles from SI.com. Good breakdown on each player.

This one from the 22nd of April, right after the portal closed.

This article is a good read on Bristow. This seems to indicate that CNO has high hopes for what Bristow brings to the equation.

Started to put this in the "portal" thread, since there was some discussion about Fielder, Nelson, Stevenson, etc., and how they compared.

I think Bristow will end up somewhere in the mix of those players previously mentioned.

Definitely a longer team, and he recognizes the defensive rebounding problem and is certain these guys coming in have the motor for rebounding.

He’s earned my trust, if he’s excited I should be too.

Davion Hannah commits to South Carolina. I posted the link, but there are only three short paragraphs about Davion, so here they are. :)

Former Alabama guard Davion Hannah committed to South Carolina out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He spent one year with the Crimson Tide before hitting the portal.

In 10 games last year, Hannah averaged 3.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, shot 46.2% from the floor and 36.4% from three-point range. He played 12.8 minutes per game.

As a member of the Class of 2025, Hannah was a four-star recruit out of Glendale (Wisc.) Link Academy (M.O.), according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 3 overall prospect in the state, the No. 5 guard in the class and the No. 48 overall prospect in the class.

Jason Sanon chooses WVu. Doubt we were super interested if he went there. He seemed to take a step back last year.

We are down to 15 players left in the top 250 transfer guys with just 4 guards left. I guess if we are going to add a guard it will have to be an international guy.

There are rumors that Tennessee main transfer portal signing Juke Harris is getting around 4 million and that there finally roster is around 20 million for next year. Looks like they are try8ng to repeat the Michigan plan from last year portal.

CNO says they have a plan. What else is there to do but trust the man? He's earned it!

I guess we can continue to ask, "What if?"

What if Hollaway doesn't make it back?

What if Allen stays in the draft?

Two huge questions! Not knowing how the new/young guys will respond, we are talking about 30 points a game we'll need to replace if they aren't back. And that's not even considering what a "leader" Allen was!

Don't focus on "top 250" transfer guys concept. Some of you guys are going by traditional concept of guards, forwards center... Oats play positionless basketball. If Holloway and Allen comes back as expected, we should be okay. There is no plan to grab international guy as of now. I think everyone just gotta kinda let it play out. You'll know more later this month.
