As per Scout.com, we have reeled in a good recruiting class. We finished 16th overall, and third in the SEC -- only one spot behind Kentucky, who signed one more recruit.

The class is particularly impressive if you consider how few players we signed (three). Only two classes in the entire country with three commitments were rated higher than ours (Duke and Wake Forest). If you look at average star rating, we were tied for the second highest rated class in the entire country.

It's really a shame that we have struggled so mightily to develop talent and play sound fundamental basketball. Gottfried generally recruits pretty dang well, and the talent is there.

Here is a run-down of all of the SEC schools and where they finished overall in the rankings:

Florida: 9th
Kentucky: 15th
Alabama: 16th
Tennessee: 18th
Arkansas: 23rd
Vanderbilt: 24th
Ole Miss: 27th

The Scout.com rankings are only listing the top 30 schools, however, both Georgia and Mississippi State were included as an "honorable mention." LSU, South Carolina, and Auburn were nowhere to be found.

I believe LSU would have made the top 30, but when J'Mison Morgan left their class quickly went straight to hell, and I don't think South Carolina or Auburn ever had a chance. The Barners class was particularly bad; those guys signed five players and still couldn't even get an honorable mention.
