Mods, I know this is the football forum, but is it also the most visited on this site that's why I want to post this news if it's acceptable for you guys.
I know most Bama fans don't follow gymnastics as close as they do with other Tide sports.
If you have been keeping up with our girls, you know it's been a very up and down season for them.
Alabama has been a traditional powerhouse for many years under Sarah Patterson. Since her departure, the gymnastics program has been inconsistent with several coaches attempting to duplicate her dominance in the sport.
I didn't think they would even be in the NCAA Championship tonight with all the disappointing losses throughout the season (6-9 overall and 1-7 in conference!). Well to everyone's surprise, they have won the Regionals and the Semi Finals when it mattered and now have an opportunity to win it all the next few days. Go and support the ladies and let's bring home their 6th Title!! RTR!!!!!!

The Crimson Tide will compete alongside Southeastern Conference foes Florida, Missouri and Oklahoma in the first of two semifinal sessions during the day (3:30 p.m. CT, ESPN2).

The top-two teams from each semifinal session will advance to Saturday for a chance at winning the national title.

Semifinal I Meet Info

Date: Thursday, April 17
Time: 3:30 p.m. CT
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Venue: Dickies Arena
Opponents: Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma

We did the same thing this afternoon that we’ve done all year. Generally good. At our best, we can hang with anybody. But we consistently have a bunch of small mistakes that just add up. Half a tenth on a quarter to half of the routines is about the margin by which we missed the finals.

It’s not blunders. It’s not falls. What separates us from the truly elite is tiny little bits here and there that crop up WAY too often.

Congratulations ladies on a great run!! Just to make it to the championship despite a less than stellar season is an amazing accomplishment. Alabama is only one of three teams in history to appeared at the NCAA Championship 40 times! Alabama finish 8th overall for the season and has never fallen out of the Top 10 in program history!

As far as individual accolades, Alabama is second to none. Prior to the semifinal meet, Rachel Rybicki won the prestigious Elite 90 award, becoming the fifth gymnast in UA history to earn the honor. As a program, Alabama leads all Division I schools in both number of gymnasts to win the award (five) and overall number of honors (eight).

RTR!!!!!
