TUSCALOOSA, AL – Alabama baseball produced 15 hits, including six for extra-bases, in Wednesday's 15-1 win over Alabama State at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The game was made official after seven innings due to the 10-run rule and improved the Crimson Tide to a perfect 5-0 overall.
Bryce Fowler paced the Tide offense, finishing the night 2-for-4 with six RBI, highlighted by a two-run single in the second and a grand slam an inning later. From the nine-spot, Richie Bonomolo Jr. managed a 3-for-4 effort with four RBI. Brennen Norton, Kade Snell and Will Plattner all finished with multiple hits while each were responsible for one RBI apiece.
Zach Kittrell (1-0) made his first start as a member of the Crimson Tide and retired all six hitters he faced, including two strikeouts. Austin Morris, Beau Bryans and Anthony Pesci all provided scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
From Head Coach Rob Vaughn
"Obviously, another good night. I'm just really proud of the approach to the game tonight from our guys. That was an uncomfortable baseball game from a temperature perspective, but you wouldn't have known it sitting in that dugout. Our focus and ability to do our jobs in non-ideal conditions on both sides of the ball really set the tone. Offensively, we were relentless, and that's where we want to be – trying to grind out at-bats until the game is over, regardless of what (the score) looks like. We're really happy with the result tonight and it'll be an early morning getting out of here and heading to Jacksonville, but we're excited for the challenge in front of us."
