Alabama QB competition article

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

I’m not so sure IMO. If he is thinking of his career. Imagine Tua is healthy until Auburn. He would have to play in five games (if Alabama was playing the Sec and playoffs). It would certainly be a tough position to be in for Hurts. But we’ll just hope that the situation never comes up. Man I wished kickoff would hurry up lol

Yeah, it could happen...............you never know. Which is why they will probably get Mac some reps and get him ready

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

I tend to agree, they need to get Mac ready sooner the better,

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

I agree. Hope for the best prepare for the worse. Here’s to hoping Tua leads Bama to another national championship!

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

FWIW, friend at game just texted and said Tua took all the reps in warmup with 1's.

Not possible. Danny S. Said Jalen would start. 😂😂😂

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

I think we can finally bury this thread...if what we saw tonight does not convince us, then nothing will. This "competition" was not even close....

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

Tua executes the plays the way the coaches draw them up and makes it look easy. I get Saban's loyalty but he should of started the Auburn game last year and never looked back.

He executes them better because he has the ability to improvise. Does anyone else see a bit of Fran Tarkenton in Tua when he scrambles? Speaking to the older gentlemen of coarse.

Tarkenton was before my time but Tua reminds me of a Steve Young/Russell Wilson/Johnny Manziel hybrid with an Eddie Lacy Spin move thrown in for good measure.

When the OL protection improves he is going to TERRORIZE the SEC this year.

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

At this point, I think its clear that the coaching staff should put together a package for Jalen for situational snaps. The competition is a farce at this point, so I hope they put together something for him to contribute in a meaningful way. He could be a heckuva weapon in short yardage, goal line, and change of pace situations.

I love Jalen, and I want him to contribute. However, IMO we're to the point where they should be putting him in the position to succeed, and put in plays that suit his strengths rather than bringing him in to run the normal offense and compete with Tua.

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

So now Game 1 has been played. Is it safe to say competition is over? We won't have to talk about Tua and Hurts anymore?

I can see that. I also thought of Snake when I got to see a few highlights after my shift.

Great CBS exerpt

]Alabama: Imagine, if you will, what Ferris Bueller must have felt when he got behind the wheel of Cameron's dad's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California. That's how I like to think Alabama coach Nick Saban felt when he realized he could use a quarterback like Tua Tagovailoa. Prior to last season, Saban had already won five national championships (four with Alabama) primarily because he recruits enough blue-chip players to make those runs every year. To that point, though, he's won those titles without a true difference-maker at quarterback. No longer. Tagovailoa started Saturday's 51-14 win over Louisville and unquestionably is the guy for Alabama's offense. He can do everything Jalen Hurts does as a runner and a passer, and then some. He and receiver DeVonta Smith might be the most exciting television in the SEC. So just think: Alabama was molly-whopping opponents on the regular anyway. Now it's going to be a whole [heckuva] a lot more fun watching them do it.

Edit: I just realized there was one off color word in that. I edited mine (in brackets) but click the link at your own discretion. Nevermind the link. I just deleted it. You can go to CBS sports website if you want to read all of it.

Meanwhile others will tell you Jeudy is WR1, and HR3 continues to hangout and make plays when he gets the ball.

Shows the issues defenses will have when game planning for this offense with Tua at QB. There's no sure WR1 like Alabama had with Julio, Amari, and Calvin, and it's not because there's not an elite WR. Alabama has three (Waddle can make it 4) elite WRs that can be the guy on any day. This WR situation is similar to recent RB situations.

Seven players had receptions last night. None had more than four.
