That's a very fair statement. I don't think that an inspection of Milroe's play should be off limits, and perhaps that's where many posters are coming from. They are critiquing his game rather than calling for the back-up, and to me that is perfectly reasonable. I've just seen a lot of innuendos that un an unknown commodity would do better than Milroe based on second and third hand intel from practices and scrimmages.
Regarding your statement that you don't believe Milroe improved in the 2nd half of the season, I agree that he didn't necessarily improve much, if any, as a passer. To me the improvement came in his understanding of when to run and doing it very effectively starting at the 2nd half of the Tennessee game.
