Alabama QBs in 2024

So basically Milroe is in the wrong system....because we've got way too much talent around him for him to be THE weapon.
With NIL and the portal, we’ll see how much of that talent stays around, if they never get a chance to show what they can do.

What's weird is i feel like JM improved, but he also seemed to regress the last few games. Maybe some defensive adjustments to exploit his weaknesses?

I'm no football coach, but Michigan did exactly what I expected them to do vs Milroe. Blitz from all different directions, confuse him, make him make quick decisions. UGA's game plan didn't work vs Milroe. Michigan's did. The blueprint has now been published.

We play UGA early next year. Milroe will be running for his life if he's the starting QB again.

He really didn't; at least not very much. CTR made him look better by taking away a lot of the things JM doesn't do well. Trouble is when a team has a 2 or 4 weeks to study what JM doesn't do well and plan to try to force him into those things or just take away the few things he can do, then they can do that, and then JM doesn't have enough tools to overcome it.

He wasn't consistently doing what Saban truly wanted him to do, so Saban finally caved and let Rees play to his strengths, but in doing so, left us vulnerable to being stopped by elite Ds/coaching staffs who could scheme him into doing what he doesn't do well

It’s not that JM isn’t a QB, he is and he’s an effective one. It’s that he’s an effective QB at the expense of all the other weapons on offense. CNS always talks about having a point guard at QB, JM is a shooting guard.

I'm not sure JM gets that point. Often his success as a runner comes at the expense of another player who could make an even better play. Staying with the B-ball analogy, it's kinda the reason CNO really values 3's over 2's. As a point guard who can occasionally get to the rim for 2 it sets up the shooter from 3. Everyone of JM runs should set up another player for a big play except it doesn't happen near enough.

This is an important point. If the offense has to be simplified for a QB to only be able to run certain plays it'll be very easy to figure that out eventually and UM did.

Our receivers were basically no factor tonight because the only play JM felt comfortable with was running. To UM's credit, they rattled JM early and he never got his feet under him, no pun intended!

I think CNS has to decide what the QB position is going to be at Bama. You can be dual threat, as Julian Sayin is capable of being, and still be an elite passer (as I believe he will be). But being dual threat must infer you are very capable of passing too or else you aren't really a QB you are just an athlete.

The type of recruiting we do with skill players we can't afford to have a QB whose best asset is his running ability. It compromises how the offense is designed to work, which is pro-set, complimentary running and passing type balance.

If we have either of those QBs, I think we win tonight. I think we would win with Carson Beck. We might have won with McCarthy. Def would win with Jayden Daniels. Several other QBs probably could have done the deal as well.
Idk I'm not sold on McCarthy

Sark already gave everyone the blueprint in September, but Michigan was able to do it a little bit better. I'm not sure why Kirby didn't do it against us this year.

If our O line played Michigan like they played Georgia, we would be celebrating now instead of Googling how to spell Wolford

A lot of it was also because Georgia went with a double spy and didn’t rush at Milroe near as much as Michigan. Texas laid the blue print but Georgia went away from it.

I also believe we just had a day where we could do no wrong on the o line that day. Sometimes it just works out that way.

Michigan denied the deep ball and played a lot of zone, which along with the early pressure, confused Milroe and forced him into short and mid-range passes which didn't go well. Our WRs couldn't get separation either.

Coach P's breakdown should be interesting. He hasn't been sold on Milroe all season for many of the reasons stated all over the boards tonight.
