Alabama QBs in 2024

I just hope today will help us "see" the things we believe we need to see:

Whether it's JM looking like he's making improvement, which means he can survey the field, get the ball out quickly and hit some open receiver in the short and intermediate range...

OR, if it's TS looking like he's finally matching his obvious arm talent to the scheme he's asked to work in...

OR if it's AM or DL showing they are growing and that they are poised to be the serviceable answer if #1 or #2 can't be...

This is the kind of stuff all be watching for today.

Has Jalen really improved?
Has Ty possibly passed Jalen?
Are AM and DL possible answers?
I'm gonna be looking more at team readiness. I want to see individual players too, but I want some idea where the team stands as a whole. Do they look well prepared with all the newness? Do they look sloppy? A concern for me is the OL. Probably more so than any other position group. I do want to see what the QBs do, but they aren't a concern. They're all very talented and capable quarterbacks.

Be careful though. You likely won't get full answers today, but you might see little hint of this and that of what's coming for those guys. But what you see, may not matter in August.

My expectation is low for today. I want to see 10 percent improvement all across the board for those guys. Give them something to build on for the summer. I"m more interested in freshmen at CBs.

Nope. Look up 2015 offense scheme they ran that year. Their base offense was Pro style.. they ran lot of multiple offense though. Nice try. Have a blessed day my friend.
Yes, which means you stopped watching after the 2015 season, which is exactly what I said. Bama switched to zone-read spread in 2016 and hasn’t been Pro style since then. Once again, you prove you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I understand the caution...but with the change of leadership, offensive and defensive mentalities, there's more to "see" and possible learn this year than in a long, long time.

As for QBs, especially JM, I want to see if he looks capable of making the quick read, short to medium throw in a smaller window. I'm not as concerned about explosive, long plays. Frankly, I rather not see him doing that as much as working on his weaknesses because conventional wisdom says that is what is standing between him and possibly being elite and and 1st rounder at the next level.

You need to chill out. The moderators have said not to continue this bashing back and forth and I've been cool and not say anything but you keep coming for me dude.. chill out. Leave me alone. Quit commenting on every single post I make. I don't bother you. I don't say anything negative to you. So, just leave me alone. Folks like you are the reason I can't even enjoy posting on the board. I'm done . I quit. Im tired of this attacking. This is ridiculous. I'm out.

I’m sorry but I simply refuse to allow incorrect statements like “Saban’s offense is pro style”. It hasn’t been that way for almost a decade. It’s like saying “Bama runs a 3-4 on defense”. It hasn’t been the case for several years. When you make silly statements like that, you’re going to get called out.

The ignore button works well. I have 5 on there currently.

Bet that makes for fun conversation following….

WHAT IF I’M ONE OF THE FIVE?

can someone pass this comment along if I am?
The ignore button doesn’t really work the way you think it would. It puts a placeholder on the post telling you that you have ignored the person, and gives you an option to view the post anyway. If you end up ignoring a bunch of really active posters, then the posts get cluttered with a bunch of messages that say “you have ignored this person”. I’m not a fan of the way it works. I would rather it just completely hide the posts entirely like they don’t exist.

no. I don’t see you as a dumb poster who is taking something way too personal to the point that you are constantly wanting to name call or bring up stuff out of context to inflate your ego.

I actually think you are a good poster. Most of posters on my ignore list constantly skirt the rules and the only remedy is for me to ignore it through the feature.

Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson are the leaders in Bama's quarterback room, and the duo will help the Tide make a case to have one of the nation’s top quarterback rooms in college football. Milroe delivered some impressive throws, along with a great run. Simpson appears to continue to get more comfortable as a college quarterback as he even dug into some of the things that made him a special quarterback recruit. They both did really well for spring A-Day. Mack will get better with experience. Lonergan may be the odd man out the portal. If he stays, great.

I thought Ty looked the best of the QBs today but I was hoping he would have had a better day to separate himself from the pack.
I could keep up with which team he played with the most. I know he was with the #1s some, but not all the time. Did JM only play with the #1s?

But as it's been acknowledged, there's a receiver drop off if you aren't with the 1s.

I noticed Henderson as a target for milroe so I think he had one series with the twos.
Ty had a few series with the 1s. He had a few really good passes. He took a sack that killed one of those drives that probably wouldn’t have been a sack in a live game.

I always wondered how that worked.

I think the intent is to use it as a “cool off” feature and less of a permanent feature. But at the same time it does take away notifications if they quote you. More or less you are in fact choosing to view their responses if you click their messages. So really if you never click it then you’ll never see it unless someone quotes them

Here's my take on Ty and Jalen. I thought they both looked great, considering it was an A-Day scrimmage. We have no clue about a lot goes on. Who's the play caller. Why certain calls are made. Who to put in and when. These variables play a part in how the quarterback looks. As I think back to recent years and different quarterbacks, I recall always thinking, "Man, he's not doing good." This was when Tua, Mac, and others were playing. But then in September they were fine. And, TBO, both Jalen and Ty looked better today than all of those I mentioned in their A-Day games.
