Just wanted to get my Alabama opinion of what to expect out of this game. I know I can come to Tidefans and have an educated, football conversation with some great, non biased answers here. So, not to sound like an Ole Miss homer here, but Chad Kelly is the real deal. I have been watching and learning the game of football since I was old enough to understand it, and I am use to seeing a team play at a high level (Alabama fan since birth). This Ole Miss team is good. Granted, both games have been against lesser competition (unless you're Auburn or Arkansas), but it takes skill to make it look that easy, no matter who you are playing. That being said, I by no means expect the same offensive output from Ole Miss against Alabama as we have seen the past two weeks. But at the same time, you can expect a better offensive performance than you got with Bo at QB. Chad Kelly looks, to this point, every bit the missing piece to running the hurry up spread offense that Hugh Freeze has been trying to build. The athletes have been there, but the QB position has been achilles heel. I know how good Alabama is on defense, so I don't know how much, but Ole Miss is going to score in this game. Both defenses are going to be tested, but both seem to be the best the conference has to offer from a talent and production standpoint (based off of last year and this year so far. I may be mistaken, but Alabama returns a good amount of defensive personnel right? I know Ole Miss does, especially up front.) It may come down to who has the ball last, and I can't wait finish class this week so I can get to Tuscaloosa.
Sidenote: This will be my first ever Alabama game NOT rooting for the Tide (I know, insert shameful traitor comments below, but it's my school and they might actually be good for once ha.), and not being with my parents at the game. Where are some good places to tailgate/talk football/hate Auburn? Never tailgated in Tuscaloosa without knowing someone, so this will be my first go round.
