The Crimson Tide extended its Opening Weekend winning streak to 19 games

2/16/2025

TUSCALOOSA, AL –
Alabama baseball closed Opening Weekend with an 11-4 win over Bradley on Sunday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium to earn the series sweep. The Crimson Tide have now won 19 consecutive games on Opening Weekend, dating back to 2019. The ballgame was made official after eight innings due to time constraints.

Alabama's lineup recorded double-digit runs and hits for a third consecutive day, finishing with 11 runs and 12 knocks. Jason Torres was the key catalyst for the Tide, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, needing just a double to complete the cycle. Bryce Fowler had three hits in four at-bats, providing three RBI from his leadoff spot. Coleman Mizell launched his second home run in as many days, while Justin Lebronconnected on his first home run of 2025.

Bobby Alcock (1-0) got the start and recorded the first win of his Alabama career in a predetermined limited outing. The redshirt senior tallied 3.1 innings with three strikeouts, allowing just three hits and one unearned run. Alabama followed with five relievers, as Beau Bryans, Connor Ball, Braylon Myers and Packy Bradley-Cooney did not allow an earned run. All six Alabama pitchers also picked up at least one strikeout over the course of the afternoon.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"Our guys rang the bell all day with consistent at-bats and every guy out of the bullpen did their job. I'm really happy with the effort and thought it was a complete weekend. It was good to get out there and play a different jersey for a couple of days, but now we'll get some rest and turn our attention to Middle Tennessee."

How It Happened

  • T1 | Taking advantage of a one-out Tide error, Bradley grounded a base hit through the right side to plate the first run of the afternoon. (1-0, Bradley)
  • B1 | Justin Lebron was hit by a pitch with one out before stealing second. With two down, Jason Torres rolled a single up the middle to tie things up. (1-1)
  • B2 I Leading off the inning, Coleman Mizell lifted his second home run in as many days, hooking a ball around the left field foul pole to put the Tide ahead. (2-1, Alabama)
  • B3 I Bryce Fowler led off the frame with a single, immediately swiping second base. Lebron was again hit by a pitch, as both he and Fowler stole second and third. Torres then grounded out to short to plate one. (3-1, Alabama)
  • B4 I The Crimson Tide managed five hits and four runs to extend the lead. Fowler provided a two-run single before Lebron launched a two-run homer into the Tide bullpen. (7-1, Alabama)
  • T5 I With two down, the Braves had three consecutive hitters reach base. A single and a wild pitch followed, allowing a second run to score. (7-3, Alabama)
  • B5 I With two on and two down, Fowler lined his second RBI-single of the day into right field, scoring Brady Neal. (8-3, Alabama)
  • T6 I A single and an error placed a runner at second base for Bradley. A two-out single then allowed the unearned run to score. (8-4, Alabama)
  • B6 I Torres lifted his first Tide home run to bring in his third RBI. (9-4, Alabama)
  • B7 I Torres continued his torrid day at the plate, sending a two-run triple off the right field wall with two on and two down to score Richie Bonomolo Jr. and Lebron. (11-4, Alabama)
