– Alabama's Justin Lebron was selected to the 2025 Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, USA Baseball announced Friday.

The preseason list includes 55 players across high school and college baseball. The Golden Spikes Advisory Board will maintain the award's watch list on a rolling basis, allowing athletes to play themselves into consideration for the award based on in-season performance.

Overall, 41 schools and 12 conferences are represented on the 2025 Preseason Watch List. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) leads all conferences with 17 players, followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with 14 and the Big 12 Conference with six. Dave Magadan (1983) remains the lone Alabama player to previously win the honor.

Golden Spikes Award Watch List

  • Started all 57 games during his first season in Tuscaloosa, including 56 at shortstop
  • Batted .338 (73-216) with nine doubles and 12 home runs as a freshman in 2024
  • Added 37 RBI, 50 runs scored, 20 walks, 16 hit-by pitch and seven steals in as many attempts in year one
  • Garnered First Team All-SEC accolades following his debut campaign
  • Also managed Freshman All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team honors in 2024
  • Totaled three Freshman All-America honors (D1Baseball.com, NCBWA, Perfect Game USA) by season's end
