I am guessing that the reason that Scout.com has not reported on the fact that Mitch Mustain is now considering Alabama in his top four is because Jamie Newberg wants to break it on his CTSD show today. Rivals and USA Today have already broke it as news.

All-South Team on Countdown to Signing Day
Wednesday's (12/21, 6:30 p.m. ET) COUNTDOWN TO SIGNING DAY reveals the show's 14th annual "All-South" team, spotlighting the first-, second- and third-unit honorees among the region's premier high school seniors. CTSD Welcomes Nation's Top-Rated Prep Quarterback as In-Studio Guest.

What network carries CTSD? Is it national like ESPN or is it a regional broadcast?

Nevermind. Answered my own question. It's on FSN South, and I don't get that without a $12 premium package on my Directv subscription. I guess I'll have to wait the extra 30 seconds or so until the same info is available on my beloved Tidefans.com. :biggrin2:

Here are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team All-South Team picks that are Bama commits or prospects.

1st Team
Andre Smith
Mitch Mustain
Tim Hawthorne
Allen Walker
Brandon Spikes
A. J. Jones
DeAntwan Whitehead

2nd Team
Cordera Eason
Marcus Sims
Derrick Odom

3rd Team
David Ross - Commit
Preston Dial - Commit
Jermarcus Ricks
Kentrell Lockett

Jamie Newberg just tossed out a teaser while going to commercial that some folks are going to be surprised with the teams that Mitch Mustain is favoring.

When asked where Andre will go to school Scott Kennedy said "Alabama. I will make it short and sweet I think he is going to go to Alabama."

Hmmm, would that be Bama, Uf, and USC (Gamecocks)?
Mitch said "I am not completely wide open. There are a few select schools I am looking at."

Actually there were a couple of surprises. lol The four schools are Arkansas, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Alabama. There was no mention of South Carolina or Florida. He really likes Coach Shula and Alabama. It sounds like he liked all four schools equally and he did not mention a favorite among them.

Jamie Newberg actually said he can't go wrong with any of those four schools that is a surprise in itself.

Well it is official now I heard it from Mustain. He is seriously considering Alabama.

I like our chances against them. They either have several QB commits or I believe Bama is in the better coaching situation.

Did you guys here the same interview? He didn't seem to know jack squat about Bama: he just said basically that we had a good year and Shula probably knows about the NFL. He had a lot more to say about Notre Dame and UT. My guess is that we're just on his list because of the PT situation and his fit in the offense; ND and UT are the decisive leaders. I could be wrong, but I think Shula has a lot of ground to make up if we want to get just into the top two on his list. Shula better hit the ground running when the dead period ends on Jan 1 and recruit this kid hard.

ND has pretty much said they are full at QB.

He knows all about Arkansas already.

He has room for two visits and that leaves two schools pretty much: UTK and Bama. If we get him on campus, anything can happen.

Good point, but it seems that Mustain doesn't know what Shula and Alabama are about at this point. So we definitely have the potential to impress if the staff can get some time with him, but its also probably an uphill battle because of the unfamiliarity.

I have read that others also think that Mustain seemed to not know much about Alabama.

I watched the same interview but I must have seen and heard it very differently. As far as I heard he did not seem to favor any of the four outright. If he does favor one school it looks like it may be ND a little. I did not think that he implied by his statements that ND or UT were his leaders over Arkansas or Alabama.

JN said that Mustain committed to Arkansas over ND early in the year. Then Mustain said he likes ND because of Coach Weiss, their season, and he likes them academically.

He said he like Tennessee because of their history and Coach Cutcliff. He said he has had a chance to sit down with Coach Cutcliff and he likes him.

Then he said that Alabama wasn't on his radar until this year when they started recruiting him. He said he really enjoyed watching Bama this season and that he has a good friend that is an Alabama fan and that is all he talks about. He said he has really enjoyed watching how Bama performed this season. He said he likes Coach Shula because he has experience in the NFL and as a QB.

Finally he said he is interested in all four schools and his decision will come down to how he fits in with the school as far as if he is comfortable with the living environment, the coaches and the team.

I think Shula is already on the ground and running as far as recruiting Mustain goes. If not Bama would not have come from out of nowhere to one of his favorites. It seems like a very good thing that Bama is included in his final four favorties and at this point as RTO22 said anything can happen if he visits UA.

Don't think Mustain gave any cryptic clues as to who he favored, although he did dwell on ND. My gut feel is Arkansas or UT. A thought crossed my mind when I read on the recruiting board about when will we get the Tebow top ranked type QB. Maybe this has been said, but our style of offense over the years has not featured the QB, like UT, FL, ND, FSU but rather the Defense in general and LBs in particular. If you go back just to the Perkins era forward most of our AA and professional grade players have been defensive players. This of course could change, but since the days of Namath and Stabler, maybe Todd, Alabama does not conjur up images of having a high profile QB. This may be working against us when trying to land the 5 star QB.
