I waited to reply to this until I had talked to some closer to the program. First of all, it's all in good fun so I don't mind any of the ribbing. Second, no amount of lighting or tight jerseys can make that much difference, the kid does have a bit of a roll in that pic.
As for Alshon, the coaches aren't worried in the least as he has looked fine in practice. That said, he did report to camp about 10 to 12 lbs heavier than expected, and there is no disguising the fact that the coaches were not thrilled with this. Alshon is not a weight-room freak or a conditioning nut, but he is a freak athlete. EJ said that he'd be starting on defense right now if Spurrier would let him make the move - he's that gifted. Still, his added spare tire was not what the coaches were looking for from a team leader.
All this aside, in scrimmages and workouts he actually looks better than last year, stronger and bigger while just as fast, has not lost a step. They expect to have him at ideal weight for kickoff in September.
Now let the fun and comments continue - it's good, clean fun to pass the time until kickoff.
