Alternate Alabama uniforms

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Looks like AJ playin' in the CFL.

I am for very slow improvements over the years, which we have done for 100+ years. I do like the dark grey long shirts under the Jersey's and could tolerate some hound-tooth trim around the collar or something. Even coach Saban sports the dark grey polo shirts. It's not normal grey, but a dark rich variety that goes well with Crimson. I have noticed a lot of this color in our newest facilities. I know that grey has been around for a while, but this shade is showing up more in official capacities, for instance you can only wear three color's exposed under your jersey. Crimson, White and this shade of Grey.

But our minimalistic tradition uniforms with number on helment are always ranked highly and it takes a nano second for the average fan to know it's Alabama, and that is important.
The teams that go radical are historical ne'er do wells :)

*** Heavy Sigh ***

Low post count. Recent join date. Tired off-season topic, and it isn't even off-season yet.

I question myself for even responding, but here I go.....

Let's get this over:
Names on jerseys?
Black high-top cleats only?
Short solid white socks?
Shiny red pants?
Game-specific helmets, especially those that incorporate polished metal tones?
White-outs?
Black-outs?
Red-outs?

I'm willing to discuss the first three, and willing to discuss houndstooth highlights, but am leaning heavily to the status quo. After that, I'm quoting Nancy Reagan, and just saying no.

Alabama wears crimson jerseys with white lettering, crimson helmets with white numbers, and white pants with crimson striping at home. And on the road at LSU.

On the road other than Baton Rouge, we wear crimson helmets with white numbers, white jerseys with crimson numbers, and white pants with crimson striping.

The only thing that shines, or is polished, is the play on the field. Period. End of discussion.

And yes, if it comes to it, I'll double my Tide Pride contribution before I bend my knee to Nike.

The white helmets wouldn't be too bad. I wouldn't mind seeing the matte finish on the helmets. But black, uh, NO!!!!

That's the part that I didn't consider perfect haha. I don't want it to be shiny at all. I was going for our regular uniforms.

Still a good job.
No college football is more protective of their teams uniform than Alabama, and that includes Notre Dame. Here are some selected uniforms from about each decade. It looks like we went to our crimson Jersey in 1932, not sure when the # on helmet started or when we switched to the white pants over grey. Hope you enjoy these pictures, I tried to pick some that show the changes.

I can promise you if it will help recruiting Saban would do it. I just don't think it's as big of a factor as some make out.

That's one hypothetical I strongly disagree with. First I doubt it would help recruiting, second, coach Saban is too smart to do something crazy with our uniforms and cause clutter in the fanbase..........which trumps having a few hypothetical vain recruits.
