the barners.

Probably old news for most of y'all but I was out with my daughter today. She mostly listens to country music and this song came on that she really likes. It was "Southern Comfort" by Buddy Jewell. I liked it too, especially the two times he did "ROLL TIDE ROLL".

The first thing that came to my mind was how much the fans of Lowder Redneck U. must really hate to hear BAMA being honored again, whether in a movie or a song or whatever. Even in a down time for the TIDE, there's no doubt about the huge chasm between the two schools and the prestige enjoyed bt BAMA.

Back to "Southern Comfort", my daughter said the video was awesome.

Anybody out there have any tales to tell about the barner's reaction to the song?

Well I have never understood why AU fans hate to see Bama praised so much. The Bama football team doing well just makes the whole state look good. That is exactly why AU will never be anything because they have such an inferiority complex. Roll Tide Roll.

Someone linked to their site a couple of weeks ago and they did not like it at all. Called us the usual redneck names.

Made light of it, as if they could dismiss it.

I BELIEVE

I overheard someone that I assume to be a barner talking about how the average barner was better educated than the average Tide fan because we have so many "sidewalk alumni".

In reply, I said that most people, if having no other reasons to choose loyalties, will choose to support a winner. In addition, since The University of Alabama is the state's university, most people unaffected by strong influences from third parties will adopt it as their default favorite.

If you go to any other state in the union, I would say that the flagship university of the state usually has the largest fanbase of non-alumni. The demographic of collegiate athletic support in this state isn't an anomaly.

I don't mind having a bunch of "sidewalk alumni" supporting the team, giving donations, and buying merchandise. Only a barner could see such a situation as unpropitious.

If " sidewalk alumni " means a fan that never attended school at the University of Alabama ,then I am one.I hope for my children to be true Bama alumni one day,but if they cant, they will be sidewalk alumni like their father.RTR

Bama's "sidewalk alumni" is smarter than the Barner's alumni that went to school there for 4 years.
