Anyone else puzzled by the continued 'immature' excuses???

I've heard this for over 3 months now...and it puzzles me that even though we only had 3 seniors actually contribute this year (GMac, Dial, Chavis Williams) shouldn't the younger prized recruits be 'getting it' by now? 2-3 years of talent developing behind this senior class so the next few years should be showing us something?

Anyone else have any thoughts to our growing up?

I've heard coach describe immature as not having been in the fire enought to know what to do and how to handle it. I noticed that quite a bit today the entire defense was looking to the sidelines as for what to do as for adjustments. Sort of like a meerkat defense. Last year with the leaders we had they just adjusted on the fly.

A few guys should be contributing:

Robby Green (suspended)
Tyler Love
BJ Scott
Alonzo Lawrence (transferred)

If Green, Lawrence and Scott ALONE "pan out" like we expected in 2007/08, we're still a consensus #1 in 2010. No doubt in my mind.

Not worth a response......

BJ Scott has been a surprise to me all season. Seems like too much natural talent to not see the field...

The good thing about having all these talented young guys playing together early in their careers is that two years from now they will all be on the same page and able to adjust like you mentioned...

It is what it is. Losing breeds finger pointing and winning is always the best deodorant to stinky habits. I watched interviews of the players post game and I heard from three levels of the defense (Dareus, Hightower, and Barron) and I heard conflicting views on whether or not the team got complacent with the lead. Most of what they said seems like they were regurgitating what Coach Saban may have said to them postgame. But it seems to me that there was at least some discussion as to whether one or more people on the defense became complacent.

Had we been able to drive and kick a FG to win this game, we wouldn't even be having these conversations.

Man, really! Maze has got to come up and field that punt and try to give us something. Anybody think Javy would have let that one hit?

Doubtful, but then there's not many like Javy. That's not a knock on Marquis either, although I too think he should have run up and fielded that punt.

I am not puzzled by the "immature" excuses because I believe we are an immature team. Look at Auburn and the team they have. I am not an Auburn fan, but they have a lot of Seniors on their team who have been through some tough times such as last season, the year before with Tuberville, the loss to Alabama at home when they had the lead on us. As a result they matured and have demonstrated an ability to come back game after game and not loose their poise.

Now look at our team. They were ranked #1 at the beginning of the year. Many of them sat on the bench while winning their teammates won the National title last year. They have been told how great they are because so many of them are 4 and 5 star recruits. What kind of adversity have they gone through? Have any of them lost to Louisana Tech and experienced that kind of humiliation like the players on last year's team did. I am not criticizing our players for not having gone through those experiences, I am just saying they have not.

I would have hoped they could learn to play "every play like it has a life of its own", "dominate your opponent every play" for 60 minutes, by simply being preached to by their coach to do so, but they have not. Now they have to experience the humilation of loosing such a big lead. Like many of us they do not always listen to the preacher and his sermon. I hope they will learn from this bad experience and eat the humble pie and realize they are going to have to develop the kind of focus and intensity that winners have. I believe they can do it and I believe coach Saban and his staff will do their best to remind them of it just like they reminded the previous team of that Louisiana Tech loss. Roll Tide

I know I keep saying it over, and over but....Championship Hangover! This team has had a championship hangover all season! Its so hard to refocus after a championship, and mix in a bunch of new players I'm really not that surprised at how this season turned out. Just my opinion, but it has been your typical post-championship season. Its easy to develop that "we can just show up, and beat whoever we play" attitude after going 14-0, and winning a National Championship in 09. Lets don't forget we are talking about COLLEGE athletes here.
