As expected, Clowney picks USCe

i see the logic in clemson and usc being more in play for him than bama. Its rumored that there are reasons besides his mother for him staying in state and if this is true, than Clemson might should be the new favorite, or else it would still be a USC Bama fight. All that aside, I dont believe Saban should be counted out yet.

now rumors that USCE annd UNC can no longer recruit Clowney due to possible violations and one very trusted poster knows its true about UNC.

I saw that rumor (though not the latter bit about verification), but it seems patently false...

Beg to differ. UGA belongs in the conversation, but under Richt they've been to 3 BCS bowl games, won their Division 4 times, and had six 10+ win seasons. In same span clemson has accomplished any one of those three a whopping ZERO times.

Clemson won their division two years ago. Just sayin.

Their only Division title since ACC expanded, and the ACC has been woefully down during that period... if you think USC backed into the SECE this season due to a bad Division, that's nothing compared to how bad clemson's division was 2 years ago. The joke around here that season was that the worst team from Georgia (GT) and the worst team from SC (clemson) traveled to Tampa to play for the ACC Title in front of 5,000 fans screaming fans.

This may all be moot discussion as clemson has definitely landed some talent in this class. If Dabo can coach them they should see results quickly... just hope Clowney decides to take his game to the big stage (SEC). Be it Bama or USC, it's better than clemson.

Yeah I live in SC so I'm aware of the jokes but it did happen haha. The joke I always heard was that the two teams from the ACC championship got curb stomped the week before by their SEC rivals neither game was even remotely close. One of my best friends is a diehard clemson fan so I follow them enough to watch them have mental breakdown every year and lose to BC and Maryland.

I hope he's semi-serious about it. That way, distance is out of the equation. Maybe a good thing for bama.
Yes last time I checked Oregon is really close to South Carolina on the map. If Alabama is out (and I'm not sayin they are) because of proximity to SC, then Oregon is surely out.

Here is today's, Sat 2/5, ESPN Insider update on Clowney:

A couple of new twists have surfaced in the recruitment of five-star DE Jadeveon Clowney of South Carolina, the nation's top prospect.
A source tells Phil Kornblut of PalmettoSports.com that Alabama seems to be fading with Clowney and that it is now a South Carolina-Clemson battle. Combine this tidbit with what we told you about on Friday -- a report that Clowney already had his mind made up (which actually echoed another report from a few weeks earlier) -- and the Gamecocks would appear to be the team in the driver's seat.
However, Kornblut also says that Clowney may take an unofficial to Clemson on Feb. 12, just two days before his scheduled announcement, which has to have Steve Spurrier feeling a bit queasy.
Meanwhile, Justin Hopkins of 247Sports.com reports that he hears that Clowney "reached out" to Oregon in recent days and that there is a possibility that he may visit Eugene next weekend. We're not sure what to make of this, other than Clowney might want to check out Oregon's facilities. Given the distance (he reportedly had trouble with the distance to Tuscaloosa), we can't imagine him being serious about the Ducks, especially at this late a juncture.

Twitter has been blowing up about Clowney the last few minutes. Turns out Laura McKeeman who works for scout/fox sports has talked to Clowney this morning and he confirmed to her that USCe and Clemson are his two finalists. No Bama mentioned. FWIW.

Laura Mckeeman tweeted:
“@LauraMcKeeman: For what it's worth, Jadeveon Clowney confirmed to me wht some sources are saying: #Clemson and #SouthCarolina are his 2 finalists.”
I really thought we had some sort of a chance. I guess he really does want to stay close to home. Oh well good luck to him.

That could be disappointing but not extremely shocking. I don't think we're completely out of it but he's always been a tough pull and it continues to be a tough pull

this is coming from scout. Also there are so many rumors floating around its crazy as we all say with signing day and still after it. Anyone ever think he wants to be left alone about it until the 14th and you know USCE fans are hounding him about bama. Unless he publicly comes out and says we are out from him personally take it with a grain of salt.
