As expected, Clowney picks USCe

honestly, i've felt that we've been out of this race for a few weeks now. anyone believing Oregon is a player in this race is crazy. he's more than likely going to just get the full Nike experience that Oregon offers. what 18 year old would pass up an opportunity like that???

Yeah, this. We've been out of it for several weeks and and weren't even very in it before that, I'd think.
 
people just last night saw him with a BAMA hat on come on guys just wait until the 14th. Remember Dee hart was going to UF FSU BURN. Pagan was going to UGA. Let things play out.

I think the distance may be to much for his family to come to Tuscaloosa, but something about South Carolina isn't sitting well with him thus his supposed new top 2 of them and Clemson. If he had already made his decision to go to South Carolina why wait? Maybe he is just wanting to savor the moment as long as he can but only he knows not a bunch of recruiting hounds.
 
there were rumors about his family legal situation keeping him in state. It could explain why the new top 2 was usc and clemson. However, this year's recruiting has been a box of chocolate so far... Get us Forrest...

^^^ This... Clowney I am sure has not eliminated us. 2 days ago he was really high on us with Clemson the one barely in the picture. Just wait until the 14th before we jump to final conclusions.
 
Sorry guys, I just don't think we are in the picture since every thing keeps coming back to the "distance" thing (tell that to the Duck Fans, though!). Although I think Clemson has done extremely well in recruiting this year, I just don't think its enough and he will stay in the SEC with USCe. Yes, I will be happy if I am wrong but thinking realistically...

I think we are out of the running here, guys. Really, I don't think we were very close to begin with. It is very common for a prospect to go to a state school obviously, and this is no different. DE isn't going to be an area of concern for us for several years anyway, with Pagan, Hubbard, Dickson, Fanning, and Alfy Hill who haven't even seen the field yet.

I didnt want to say this as long as we were percieved to be in the race for him, but I just dont see him playing DE in a 3-4. Now as gifted as he is, he could convert to an OLB and be a pass-rushing beast off the edge, but he doesnt look anything like a 3-4 DE. The lightest DE we played this year was about 275lbs and Dareus was 310lbs. Clowney is what? 235?

I agree with Saban14.....our defense is going to be insane for years to come without JC. We just had the best defense in the SEC with a bunch of true freshmen playing this year. The 3-4 is where its at!
 
I think he may be wearing the Bama cap just to play around with everyones mind some. I think he wants his announcement to be still somewhat of a surprise although I feel most everyone holds South Carolina as a heavy favorite. I think this is just keeping some fans on their toes. I do think he signs with the Gamecocks. If he signs with Clemson though , I will not be shocked because that still gives him a chance to stay close to home.

Most folks thought The Barn had no chance to get Cyrus either..And the Keenan Allen saga comes to mind from last year..You never say any team is out of it..
 
Eh, I hate to hear this for obvious reasons, but this should be no surprise to anyone who has really been paying attention. Putting down the crimson glasses, it's been pretty clear for months now that he was going stay in-state.

And, yeah, it could happen where somehow, someway Clowney ends up at 'Bama. The sun could also swallow the Earth whole late tonight, but that's probably not going to happen; same with Clowney to 'Bama. Big difference between possibilities and probabilities, guys. Some of you just need to let this one go a bit. I swear, with some of you guys I'm afraid this kid will be a junior at South Carolina and you guys will be believing he is going to transfer to UA in the middle of the season. Nothing personal, but you're likely just setting yourselves up for disappointment.
 
I have some friends that are close to the Clowney situation, he evidently has committed to USC and is believe it or not hinting in the next couple of days to clemson to start building hype. Even though he is a silent commit to South Carolina. My buddy is good friends with Lattimore, he is here at the beach this weekend. That is what he was told. Bama is obviously out. rtr

From following JC recruitment I doubt this very seriously because he for one does not seem to be the one to pull some circus stunt like this. Also according to most USC people I believe that are in the know they do expect JC to announce to USC but have already shot down any rumor of a silent. There is also word out there that he might not even visit Clemson now for the game. Sorry I just do not buy the JC playing Clemson along and my understanding the only reason his commitment has been pushed until the 14th is ESPN wanted it so they could carry the announcement and the recruiting window longer. I have heard this was part of his agreement with them because he is on the cover of their magizine being released on the 7th that want more hype when the magizine is released, hence sale more.

The only people I have heard say this junk about stringing Clemson along to make them look silly are USC fans that bought a tin foil hat from the Bunker store.
