JessN: Assistant coach hiring tracker...

So he's remained a DAL guy even though he started out in Green Bay?

Yes, he is a Dallas Cowboy! He is a big supporter of the North Texas BAMA alumni chapter, Tide in Texas. He is a great guy. Although I’m sure a little down over the game today. We texted a little while ago about BAMA assistants but, I wasn’t dumb enough to mention the game. 🤣

Heard that. Neat to know. I need to check out his podcast

Been a lifelong Packer fan, so 4th grade me was ecstatic when he got drafted to GB. Have a Packers playing card he signed while he was still there. I remember the big INT vs the Lions when he was there, but most of my memories are of him in DAL.

Assuming Morrell comes as co-DC, Parker’s system fits pretty well to what Morrell does. Both ran Cover 4 more than any other coverage this past season. Would be a different system than our guys are used to but, Parker also runs a good bit of Cover 2 Man as well. (Morell ran cover 4 a lot more.)

George Teague talked about this on his podcast last night. I asked him a little more this morning. Not about to reach out tonight with the butt whoopin the Cowboys are taking this evening!

I've meant to take a look at his podcast I've heard it was insightful.

It is insightful. You will get more analysis and breakdown vs “opinion”. I highly recommend Bowl Mania from December 13th. I was the guest picker and beat George and his son JT. (It was pure luck)

They are all out on his YouTube channel, Teague’s Take.

Listening to a live chat on X and it was mentioned that Chuck Morrell, the Washington D Cordinator, was at the meeting with the NEW Washington Coach today!!! Maybe he is NOT coming.🤔

It's somewhat like being transferred in the military
But that's at least predictable. Orders tend to come months in advance and, in most cases, are timed to fall in the June-July time frame so that kids can finish the school year and get settled in at the new station before the new year starts.

The CFB situation is insane. Saban leaves, throwing the whole staff in a panic. We hire Washington's coach, blowing up their whole program and leaving many of those staffers jobless. Washington hires Arizona's coach, blowing up that program. Arizona will blow up another program. And so on. And it's January. Most schools have already started classes, the housing market is at an ebb, etc.

Sounds like we've decided to play hardball and force Kirby to lose one of them, lol. I love it!

Welcome to SEC recruiting CKD, where people will dang near give up a child or two to get who they want. Roll Tide!

Nothing new...has been going on for decades. Most of these coaches move, leave families behind to finish the school year, and then reunite. Some coaches just come and rent apartments, going home when they can and let their families have a semblance of normalcy. I've known good coaches who returned to HS coaching to get out of this merry go round.

So looks like Gillespie the only holdover on offense
That article also states that Tommy Rees will be retained. It does not say at what position. I cannot find any other notice of him staying at Bama and at what position. Does anyone have anymore information on if he is actually staying and at what position?

C/P from the original article on 24/7 Sports.

Additionally, DeBoer is retaining Robert Gillespie, who coached Alabama’s running backs under Saban and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. Gillespie has been on staff at Alabama since 2021 and has ties to the SEC. He played at Florida from 1998-01 and has previously coached at South Carolina (2005-08) and Tennessee (2013-17).

I believe that is poorly worded. Rees is gone. It means that Gillespie coached under Saban and Rees, not that Gillespie and Rees, who coached under Saban, are coming over.

My word. Reading this just solidifies my belief that anybody that hits the portal from the O side of the ball is either just going to the highest bidder period or knee jerking that Milroe is still on the team. Considering this staff`s accomplishments, the intelligent play IMHO would be to at least go through spring camp, then decide. Just one guy`s opinion, but I think it`s far from a certainty that Jalen will start ( thus probably transfer ) next season.

This puts Kirby in a bad spot...............cant keep both, so he has to choose which one he loses. The only wrench in the gears is if Schumann were to be hired to coach Arizona, and they are looking at an experienced coach like the guy from K State. So............here we are. Pick your poison Kirby..............
