JessN: Assistant coach hiring tracker...

When I shared @JessN's note that TRob wasn't a done deal with some Bama friends on WhatsApp, they thought it was crazy. Maybe not!

Another @JessN insight (via Twitter/X) that also seems to bearing fruit is that DeBoer likes to hire coordinators and then work with them to fill out their staffs. That would explain why it's taking longer than advertised (DeBoer said to give him 24 hours) to know who the defensive coaches are: we're waiting to see if TRob comes back to take the job.

First post- Listening to joxfm this morning Greg said he thought T-Rob was going to happen and was questioning who will be running the defense with him and what style- Mentioned Durkin ran a little different defense than Steele/T-Rob. Went on to say that he is versatile and has run different defenses. I think they would be a great pairing.

But that's at least predictable. Orders tend to come months in advance and, in most cases, are timed to fall in the June-July time frame so that kids can finish the school year and get settled in at the new station before the new year starts.

The CFB situation is insane. Saban leaves, throwing the whole staff in a panic. We hire Washington's coach, blowing up their whole program and leaving many of those staffers jobless. Washington hires Arizona's coach, blowing up that program. Arizona will blow up another program. And so on. And it's January. Most schools have already started classes, the housing market is at an ebb, etc.
And all those coaches are making 6 figures plus, while an E3 with a wife and kids is making 25000 maybe. The coach is a coach, while a difficult profession, not at all like serving and protecting your country. Not trying to be an ass, but it's not the same.

I think I read that they only had 12 sacks all year. Didn't we give up that many just against USF???

To have a sack total that low you have to process and get rid of the ball pretty quick. Sure their OL was probably better than ours but not THAT much better. That having been said when spring starts the QB's are going to be judged on how fast they can process and deliver a pass. So far that has not been a strong point of JM. So either he's got to get much quicker processing OR the offense is a simpler one read system that is designed to make one read and do one of two things, OR JM may struggle to keep his job. Bottom line is DeBore's O is an air raid variant. It passes to set up the run. It will look NOTHING like we've seen recently. You'd have to go back to maybe Homer Smith to find something similar

I'm stoked!!!

Most E-3s don't have wives, much less kids---and probably haven't been given PCS orders yet, in any case---but sure. It's a completely different gig with very different stressors. They're both lifestyles that don't afford a lot of control but the military is a giant bureaucracy, so tends to be more predictable in terms of moves and the like.

TRob would actually get to BE the D Coordinator at UA. At GA, he would have to stand there while Kirby huddled his guys on the sidelines and called the critical downs.

My guess is he'll go to UGA. No inside info, just my gut feeling and to be honest, I'm to the point I don't care. It's not like our current assistants had teams beating down their doors for jobs. They are currently sought after due to our situation to get get players, not as much for their quality of coaching. CKD is bringing 🔥 in a stout staff. We just need to ride out this initial wave of instability and we'll be fine.

I agree. I think that it is normal to have players leave and it was a logical conclusion that they will. I think CNS is doing a great job keeping everyone from abandoning ship. Especially, with the new feature of NIL after a coach leaving a program.

Who does he think we will get?

Anyone’s guess. A lot of your typical names like Leonhard, Womack, and the pipe dream Schumann have been floated around. But really it’s probably none of those and someone that isn’t being mentioned.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Durkin is the guy.

I think they can do better than Durkin..................I'd try for Parker

Yeah. Again who knows. I think all we really know was that yesterday TROB was the choice and now it’s anyone’s guess. I think ultimately it’s going to be a good one that is going to initially split the fanbase.
