Link: ATH/S Malcolm Mitchell committed to UGA

Re: ATH/S Malcolm Mitchell Updates: Commitment announcement on Jan. 20th

Has anyone ever done so little with so much as often as Mark Richt has? We're gonna have to start calling him the SEC's Mr. February.

Very true. Mack Brown is in the same boat (albeit Mack has won a fair amount more, he has much more in-state talent than UGA).

Mitchell just said that Alabama was in the lead the whole time. That is a direct quote. Right after Mitchell announced his commitment to UGA, Jay Rome said he had no idea and that he was 99% sure that Mitchell was going to Bama. This one literally was too close to call.

Stuff like that just invites red flags and conspiracy theories. Did he say what "changed his mind" away from his leader "the whole time." I doubt it was over coaches coming to lunch.

That's a shame, he really could've benefited with CNS' DB knowledge but the home state was just too strong. I think it's a bad decision overall b/c CMR will not be there in the next 4 years at some point but congrats for him

My feelings exactly. Good luck to MM, but I honestly don't see UGA improving that much b/c they've always had talent, they are like the Clemson of the SEC, a few good years mixed with a lot of underwhelming ones.

Let's get it all out of the way now:
  • he never woulda made it at Bama.
  • Way overrated.
  • Didn't want to compete.
  • Didn't want to win a National Championship.
  • He would rather be on a losing team.
  • He's actually 5'8", not 6'1" as listed.
  • He's not a typical Saban DB.
  • He probably has grade issues. I heard he's going the JUCO route.
  • I live in the area, and kids from that area usually have character problems.
  • UGA cheated.
I think I covered it all... please add as you see fit. :rolleye2:
Man Come'on there is no need for this. If he had chose us you would be saying something totally different. This is not that huge of loss for us. Wish him the best!

Also, $.

Good!!!! Seriously GOOD!!!

This guy obviously thought he was Lebraun James deciding between Chicago and Miami.

I really don't want that kind of player.

Good luck and good riddance.

sip

The only difference Alabama was a legitimate landing spot for MM, and Chicago was not (once Rose refused to kiss James buttocks). Apples to oranges situation, imo.

I wish MM well at GA, except against Bama.

I hate losing recruits to anyone so I of course and disappointed to lose Mitchel But from a program standpoint, Nick Saban is THE BEST DB coach in the country. He can take a three star guy and turn him into a first round draft pick. Alabama gets way more than their fair share of top DB's and we have the best training in the country.

Georgia meanwhile has been hauling in top recruiting classes for years under Mark "one foot in the grave" Richt and haven't done squat with them. So I'm not at all worried about them.
