Mitchell will choose between Bama and UGA as expected.

Georgia received an official visit from Malcolm Mitchell in December and Alabama will get this upcoming weekend. The 6-foot-1, 180 pound athlete out of Valdosta, Ga. is down to those two.

He has dropped the Florida Gators and he is now set to announce his decision on January 13.

I saw he is listed as a WR at the UA practice. Is UGA recruiting him for defense also? Do we know what he wants to play in college.

He said that both UGA and Bama are recruiting him at DB, but UGA seems a bit more open to trying him at WR as well. We're giving him that option, but he's stated that it doesn't make a difference to him... he knows his future is probably at DB.

...And for the record, I'm calling we get Mitchell.

But your foot is in your mouth on your mood, so what happens if he picks UGA? Do you have an 'eat crow' one too? ;)

I hope we get him. We REALLY need another DB. Maybe Deion Belue will be back by 2012. MM can definitely be an early contributor given how many DB's we use. Lester and Lowery (I think) will be gone after next year.

Lester is a rs sophomore so he'd have to leave early and as good as he was this year getting picks, if he doesnt learn to take better angles he may take a back seat to Robbie Green who was a great tackler last year.

Sounds good when MM says about the 6-7 record for UGA that "I don't hate it but I don't love it". I believe he has a chance to make an impact somewhat early with Bama

My "foot in mouth" mood is there as a precautionary tale. If I am ever wrong (which happens frequently), I don't have to apologize because I already have my foot in my mouth. :biggrin2:

Fixed your link for you.

Potential ‘Dream Team’ members not spooked by UGA’s 6-7 record
Of the 10 representatives here this week, at least eight were targeted in the Bulldogs’ stated goal of landing a “Dream Team” of the state’s best recruits. Crowell, Quan Bray, Xzavier Dickson, Malcom Mitchell, Jay Rome, Justin Scott-Wesley, Gabe Wright and James Vaughters are on that roll. At least two others — Ray Drew and Damian Swann — are practicing in San Antonio this week for Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

But in the midst of this bold ploy, Georgia went out this fall and had it’s first losing season in 14 years. What makes that particularly troublesome for the Bulldogs is it’s going head-to-head with perennial juggernaut Alabama on many of these elite players and national championship contender Auburn for some others.

“It doesn’t turn me off; it doesn’t turn me on,” said Mitchell, who is planning to decide between Georgia and Alabama during a Jan. 13th announcement at Valdosta High. “I just feel like I’m looking at the program itself, not just for football. I mean, that’s why I’m going there, but it’s more about the people there, the coaches there and stuff like that.”

Malcolm Mitchell Update

Per his high school coach, he'll be visiting UA on January 14th, and will announce his decision on January 20th.

I feel confident that we get him, but we'll see.

Re: Malcolm Mitchell Update

Well if he moves his announcement day to the 20th when it was the 13th and OVs us on the 14th then I think that is a good sign for the good guys. He would be a great addition to the class. Here's hoping
