AU DE Michael Goggans says Ingram will not win Heisman

when he's asked about Ingram and his Heisman possibility, what is the guy supposed to say? "yeah, we think he'll be able to pad his stats against our porous run defense. We bow to his awesomeness"? OF COURSE he's gonna say that they'll stop him.

A player with class would say "Well, he's a great back, but we're gonna try our best to stop him." And leave it at that. Promises made but not kept are baaaaaaad.

The barners I know are split on it. Some of them are wishing their players would shut up, while others say they like the FAR!(barner translation = fire) that they are showing.

Blowing smoke doesn't necessarily translate into breathing fire...fool could have just swallowed the burned ashes of barn dreams.

I think it's a little extreme to call that 'class', thereby saying that what Groggans said was 'classless'. Maybe he should bridle his tongue, but he didn't insult anyone.

What number is this fool? is he weakside or strong side, or left or right?? I'm going to be sure and keep a special eye on his matchups and how he plays

Bragging and boasting indicates a low "class" quotient; having class means keeping your mouth shut and letting others judge you by your actions, not your words. I didn't say what he said was "classless, did I? I said what a person with class would say (IMO), argue the point all you want.

reminds me of the three auburn students who showed up to perform in the christmas play dressed as fire fighters. the director asked them what was up, and the smart one of the group said, we heard that three wisemen came from a far

I would have to agree with Goggans, but not the reason that he intended. Ingram is not going to win the Heisman on Auburn. He is going to win the Heisman on Florida. Ingram could rush for 200 yards against Auburn (a distinct possibility). But if he struggled against Florida, it would go to Tebow. He is going to have a huge game against Florida, so it won't be an issue. ;)

In paper this morning one of our guys was asked about Tate, and he said "he is a great back and we will have to focus on doing our job."

no big deal, what is he supposed to say? I remember last year when the center for the barn said they had a plan for cody. Then cody fell on him once and it was all over, there is no plan for getting smushed. They just don't have the manpower to face bama now.

and?

I guess maybe my skin is too thick. Silly stuff like this doesn't bother me in the least. I'm glad the kid is confident....it just makes it that much sweeter when he gets his arse handed to him.

As others have said, Mark won't win the Heisman against them. The Heisman is not won in one game. It is won throughout the season. Yes, the award might be sealed after a particular performance. Mark will not win it because of his performance on Friday. If he wins, Mark will win the award by running over several defenses, just not Auburn's.

Once your smushed all bravado flies out the window.
