I know last week some were wondering about Kris Frost and his Auburn commitment. There had been some question of Auburn taking him or not.

I talked to two Auburn fans today. Both are failry intelligent for Auburn fans. They said Auburn went hard after Frost until he dropped them from his list. Once he did that, AU withdrew their offer. Then all of a sudden at the game last week, he announced he will go to AU. The coaches have not accepted him yet.

Interesting. Why would a guy commit to a school that withdrew his offer?

Playing "Hard Ball" to get more $$$$ out of auburn..Sounds like auburn told him his singing Bonus was $50,000 & not a penny more with the NCAA hanging around..Frost tried too bluff auburn's offer..That Bluff probably cost him a signing Bonus..

This is a starnge story indeed. I have not heard of something like this happening to an All-American before. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Please lets take it easy with the money comments. I believe y'all are joking in this thread but just because a player goes to the barn does not mean there is money involved, every time. ;)

This is a very odd situation. KF is a great recruit in an area that AU really needs some help so I'm not sure why the coaching staff isn't doing back flips that they landed someone like him if they haven't accepted his commitment.

I was listening in today on Jox and some Auburn recruiting guru said that Kris was told by Auburn not to commit during the game but he did it anyway. I find that interesting.

That would be enough for me to say "screw 'em" unless they were my complete 100% favorite team like we all are with Bama. To me whether they showed interest or not, for them to say "dont do it" would be enough for me unless they were talking a greyshirt or something else. Its a shame and the barn just might lose this kid, I've heard he has some other issues I wont say but he looked good I thought in the USAAG.

I gotta agree with ya..It's stupid too tell a recruit not too commit during the NC Game..Auburn was on the biggest recruiting stag in college football playing in the NC Game..You gotta use it before, during, and after the Game..Barners never cease to amaze me..I guess they don't know any better since it's been 53 years in between NC's for 'em..

Hey look if he has a good enough voice to get $50K from AU maybe he should think about American Idol. ;)

I wonder if UA AA DB Marcus Roberson is one of the barn's prospects that they don't want to scare off or they may be looking at taking him ahead of Frost. Most likely they are trying to get both of them. Robinson says that AU is recruiting him hard. That is apparently not the case with Frost. lol Again this very strange holding pattern with Frost will be something to watch unfold.

St. Thomas Aquinas All-American Marcus Roberson to announce on National Signing Day - OrlandoSentinel.com
Roberson is down to five finalists, but says two Southeastern Conference schools sit at the top of the list.

"I am making my decision at the end of the process on signing day [Feb. 2]," Roberson said. "Right now I'd say who is really recruiting me hard is Auburn, Georgia, Florida, USC and Texas Tech.

"I think Auburn, they're looking at me to play corner and safety. And Florida the same. With those two it's just about what's best for me. Those two are the top two that are really standing out for me right now. They are really standing out."

Roberson has taken official visits to Georgia (Sept. 17), Auburn (Sept. 24) and Texas Tech (Nov. 5). His final two visits will come the next two weekends.

Maybe the aubies had an idea they were gonna get a commit from a 5* LB at the AA game and didn't need/want another LB. I know that commit was promised EPT at RB but he will be a LB.

He disses Auburn and then out of nowhere commits... strange indeed! That is what has Auburn concerned and not accepted his commitment! He could be a mole! ;)

Thee real crazy part of all these is that he can be more than just a LB. He's got the ball skills and athleticism to be a DB and Safety as well and that's a major need for awbarn considering that every big game they had an opposing WR get well over 100 yds. He could be a shutdown DB. If AU doesn't want him, I would love to see Bama get a look b/c he's that talented

Here is what I can piece together concernign the story about Frost's US Army AA Bowl commitment to Auburn. The story within the story from the barners is that Frost was down to either Auburn or Michigan and he had decided he was going to go to Michigan. He didn't tell the barn he just stopped talking to them for a significant period before US Army Bowl. Then when Rich Rod was run out the back door of the Big House, it seems that Frost decided that he wanted to commit to the barn. AU told him they may not have room and that they did not want him to commit to them until they gave him the go ahead. They wanted hm to wait until NSD to see if a spot at Auburn opened up. Frost went ahead and verbally committed to them on TV without the acceptance or approval from the barn. Since his public commitment apparently the barn has told him the only thing they can firmly offer him is a grayshirt. They want him to wait until NSD or shortly after in hopes of a slot opening up. lol It appears that he is looking elsewhere now but nothing specific from Frost has come out yet. This is another strange story in a long line of strange recruiting stories.

Benched Press: Kris Frost commits to Auburn... or does he?
By all accounts, North Carolina high school football player Kris Frost is a pretty typical star athlete.

Rivals.com's No. 4 rated athlete and No. 39 overall prospect in the country, Frost was invited to the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio this past weekend.

Having found out about the selection last October, Frost continued to work in the classroom and in the weight room, earning offers from Auburn, Clemson, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech, among others.
