I listen to hoops pods, and watch videos, and read articles. We are “quietly” a Top 5 team, and a #1 seed. Everyone has us high. But no one is talking about us.

Auburn, UK and UT are soaking up the oxygen in the room in conference. Nationally Auburn, Duke, Iowa State are doing the same.

Nate isn’t being mentioned in the Top 10-15 coaches-as a COTY candidate.

Sears isnt seen as an All-American mention. No players are being talked about as SEC POTY. No freshmen mentioned as Freshman AA.

it’s just quiet.

interesting.

Great article about analytics.

the one flaw with Points Per Possession analytics is that it doesn’t account for fatigue, but does account for pace.

example, Auburn scores 78 and loses to Duke but ends up with an offensive rating of 152.

Bama scores 94 in Chapel Hill beating UNC by 15 with an OR of 125

Auburn had 51 possessions. We had 75

because of our pace we turn the ball over and miss more shots. Nate knows this. He gripes about the TOs but accepts that we will have more. But we will have more possessions as a result. Thus more chances to score

that’s why we are seldomly ever out of a game.

Ken Pom and Torvik and the Net as a result undervalue our style. Because they value teams with fewer wasted possessions.

BTW Duke had a lower OR in that game vs Auburn despite winning at 147 ;)

Not sure I totally agree with flying under the radar but the Barn is taking most of the attention. I believe Philon will be considered for Freshman AA. Less noise is good inside young men's heads.

With the two Dukies, Bailey and Harper from Rutgers not sure there will be room for Philon. He’s not carrying a heavy load.

I am glad for the lack of hype. The less noise and less attention the better. Just keep winning
As long as it doesn’t equate to disrespect at seeding time. So far it doesn’t seem like that will happen.

I agree. We don't need the distractions that come with the attention.

Everything will sort itself out.

If we beat AU and UT, we will be right where we need to be in the mix.

It doesn't keep him from griping about TOs. You still want to keep them to a minimum. The type of TO is also of interest to him. Along the lines of what you're saying, after the Ole Miss game, he simply couldn't believe that OM got so many more shots than we. Of course, we were uncharacteristically weak on the offensive glass, which he returned to also. In fact, for those who had ears to hear, he laid out exactly what the article laid out above, that we hadn't shot all that great but made up for it on the offensive glass. Your fatigue factor you mentioned is also undervalued. Teams are simply not used to playing our speed and end up with their tongues hanging out...

I still believe we had a strong hangover from TAMU game especially when the officials allow such physical play reailting in a 3hr game. We had on 2 days rest to recover before facing OM.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
Lunardi’s bracket as of now has Auburn as the overall one and Bama as the overall three. We’re literally both 1 seeds.

Again, Bama is far from flying under the radar. Everyone sees that they are a legit national title threat and only two teams are currently more favored; Auburn and Duke.

Bama is currently in line to be one of the top 4 seeds in the dance.

There's no "flying under the radar" here.
Sure there is. As media is prone to do, they focus on the shiniest of toys. Bama and Iowa St get far less love than Tennessee, Florida, and even UK is getting. Marquette gets little buzz. But Michigan State is the new darling now.

The computers say we are a 1-seed but you won’t find any players or coach getting any recognition much. Philon a bit. Sears as an “oh yeah, him too” mentions.

It’s fine with me if it keeps them hungry. But yes, you can be a one seed and get no love.

That's updated from when I posted, though that's a wild swing in just a few days and considering we just beat LSU.
I thought we were in the 7-ish range on both heading into the weekend, but don't recall for sure. I know I haven't seen us top 4. We are #2 on O on Kenpom though. Regardless of the #, the analytic sites do like us.

We were #2 in offensive efficiency on kenpom. That's probably what it was. We haven't been #2 overall in quite awhile.
I must have accidentally clicked a different sort on the data when I checked.

We did drop overall for some reason though.

I rechecked the T-Rank Seeding and we dropped to the 1st #2 Seed

Edit: Looks like Houston made a move past both us and Tenn.
