Bama getting no respect

If we beat UGA in the SECCG, I'd rather not play them in a rematch, but I don't like the alternative of not getting a chance, either.

It would be nice to MTAQ, though.

UGA's SOS is 77th and worse than any team in the Top 10 except Louisville.

I think the loser of the SECCG is completely out of the picture this time...even UGA.

Under the right circumstances the 12-1 Mich/tOSU loser and a 12-1 Wash (if they lose a close one) could slip in ahead of UGA.

All 3 have stronger resumes than UGA.

I'm still waiting for the Bison Ref dude to come back and explain how Officiating is hardly ever wrong.

His defense of what happened in Knoxville last year would be something else.
I haven't paid attention to anything he said since the 2017 title game when Tua threw a TD to Ridley on 4th down. On that play, Najee got absolutely MUGGED and they didn't throw the flag. IndyBison's defense was "There was no point to throw the flag since the penalty didn't change the outcome. Bama scored anyway". That is without a doubt the dumbest thing I've ever heard from an official.

LOL!!!

They never seem to go by that line of thinking when they throw a flag on a KR or PR and a 'Block in the Back' happens waaaaaaaay away from where the actual return is happening and the block itself is more a love tap side to side shoulder bump.

I've lost count of how many times we've had a penalty on those.

My point exactly

A few general observations.

It sure does seem like the era of the committee respecting scheduling tough OOC games is over. What exactly did Texas gain by scheduling the Alabama game? One spot in the playoff rankings? Alabama meanwhile lost a spot in the top 4, the committee is showing it does not benefit you to schedule tough games you don't have to, their top 6 teams have all played soft schedules.

Washington and Oregon back to back is a joke. Washington actually played a tougher schedule than Oregon, FSU, and everyone else ahead of them. Washington is undefeated and beat Oregon, yet Oregon is nipping at their heels because the committee no longer cares about things like resumes and instead seems to rely almost entirely on the always trustworthy "eye test". The BCS gets this one right by the way, with Washington at 4 and Oregon at 7 (and Alabama at 6).

Sometimes people question why people such as myself rely on Sagarin. Well, it helps get rid of some of the stupidity humans have sometimes. Case in point, James Madison. Not eligible for the post season, so not ranked by the committee but stupid humans in the AP and coaches have them at 18 and 21 respectively.

James Madison hasn't played anyone! Their big wins are 2 win Virginia by a point and a win over 1-9 Uconn. They would get murdered by virtually every team in the SEC, but because they played no one and won, stupid humans are ranking them far higher than they should be. Sagarin has this one figured out, with James Madison at 39 and Alabama at 3.

If we beat UGA in the SECCG and we both get in one of us will be #4 and the other likely #2 or #3. At #4 we would possibly play the tOSU v Michigan winner. If UGA is #4 and we are #3 we could possibly get FSU at #2. I just do not think both UGA and Alabama get in.

Unless there is a complete and total car crash at the end of the season, the loser of the Alabama-Georgia game is not going to the playoffs.

I will also remind everyone that Iowa State has a habit of coming up big and knocking big guns in the Big 12 out of the way for everyone else:

2011 - Oklahoma State (after killing their b-ball coaches to induce distraction)
2017 - beat #3 Oklahoma, though they made the tournament and beat #4 TCU
2020 - beat Oklahoma in regular season and though lost rematch, it helped keep Sooners out
2021 - upset Oklahoma State, whose loss in B12 title game to Baylor assured they were out

Throw in the fact Texas loses a game or two every year they should win - and we have hope this weekend.

I suspect Oregon State beats UW, too. In fact, I'd rate that far more likely than Iowa State helping us.

Personally I don’t think Michigan should have a chance if it loses to tOSU. They have a pathetic schedule. No way it would hold up to a one loss Bama. After the egg they laid last year losing to TCU they have no margin. Oregon and Washington are the ones that can gum up the works for Bama imo. Florida St. has the easiest road and I could still see them getting clipped. It almost has always worked out correctly but I do wish they had started the 12 team format this year.
if Michigan loses to OSU (ain’t happening), that means they can’t win their conference; and if Bama wins out, they are ranked ahead of Michigan because - Bama will have the win over the highest ranked team of any 1-loss teams, they will be SEC champs and their lone loss was the second game of the season to a team that’s ranked higher. Michigan will have no wins over top ten teams.
But as I said, this ain’t happening. Michigan will be undefeated and in the playoffs (barring banishment).

I think there will be 4 undefeated teams at the end of the season who will be in the playoffs. But I'm still hoping for total chaos which results in Bama v Texas for the NC. :p

So you have Alabama losing to GA?

That was a response to the narrative that it was just like last year and that either one was going regardless of what happened in that game. I don’t think either one would be ranked higher than a one loss Bama. If Bama wins the SEC they are in.

Wait. Is James Madison a school? With a campus and students and stuff? I feel like I’m being played here… 😉

Honestly, i think DBs and WRs should foul out after their 3rd flag for either holding or PI. It would stop the Auburn and Clemson strategy to continually mug the WR daring officials to call penalties.
