Bama getting no respect

You can if you're criteria is the Big 12 champion with the same record beat that SEC champ by 10 at home. The ACC and Big 10 champs are undefeated. And the Pac 12 champ avenged their only loss.

We'd be out and this committee would relish in it.
The conferences aren’t equal. That’s the whole point of this issue. The people making the decisions don’t know what they’re doing.

Side note. Had the press not been so “the PAC is the best conference” junk early, we wouldn’t be here. This has been a fabricated story since week one.

And now it’s blocking a second B1G school and possibly 2 SEC from getting in.
Bingo. They are trying to prop up this conference since it literally will not exist next year. This entire season has been built on a lie.

Even if you throw that out, Bama is still not getting the respect we deserve. FSU beats LSU (before they get rolling on offense, mind you) and they’re living off that win the entire year. Bama beats LSU and “Dallas Turner is a dirty player”. UGA beats Ole Miss and they move to #1. Bama beats Ole Miss after giving up 3 points in the 2nd half….crickets. It’s unacceptable.

With so many teams having similar records this year, I think the conference championships will carry weight to break some of these ties. However, I think if these four things happen, then we are likely to miss out. 1)Big Ten winner is undefeated 2)Washington wins out 3)Florida State wins out 4)Texas wins out. If Oregon beats Washington, it still may leave us out in the cold. Florida
State or Texas need to lose really and both would be fantastic. But there is still so much that can happen in next two weeks (including us losing), let's watch it play out.

I hear this argument all the time and people are missing the point when they say “if these games don’t count”. No one is saying they don’t count or you can just ignore them. We are simply saying you can’t JUST look at one game and make the decision based solely on that. There are so many other factors that have to come into play and you have to look at the entire season overall. There’s not a single team in this country that would have a resume as good as Bama’s if they win out, period.

1) You don't know that.
You think Georgia wouldn't be undefeated with our schedule?

2) Alabama fans LOVE to say the following things - but only when it's convenient:
a) but we were undefeated and Notre Dame had a tie (1966) - schedule doesn't matter
b) but we beat Ole Miss and Notre Dame didn't (1977) - resume doesn't matter (seriously - compare RESUMES and come back and tell me Alabama should have won that)
c) head to head counts except when it doesn't (1978 and apparently 2023)

If Alabama had beaten Texas by 10 points IN AUSTIN, not a single fan here would be trying to invent ways to get around inconvenient truths like head-to-head football games. It would be "well, we settled who was better on the field." NOT ONE FAN here saying, "But that game was in September" would be using that EXCUSE - and that's all it is - if the situation was reversed.

What's funny is the "well, if we played again, we'd beat Texas" coming from THE EXACT SAME FANS who say Georgia beating us in a rematch in 2021 shouldn't count "because we had players hurt."

It seems the excuses are just pulled out as they needed, which is why you either win or accept the consequences of losing.

Sigh, it was clearly a hypothetical, and I prefaced it by saying UGA had a loss like we do. Again you’re missing the point. You absolutely cannot keep the winner of the best conference out of the playoffs. It invalidates the results.

I have no problem with Texas being ranked ahead of us if we both win out. My problem would be the teams that didn't have the strength of schedule we did and do If we win out, I don't know if the committee would factor in that we're the only team in the country to beat UGA in the last 3 years. Probably not but they should.

The rest of the college football world thought UCF should have made the playoffs in 2017. I don’t care what a bunch of casuals think.
Fair enough. I was only pointing out that our opinions are not the only opinions. The rest of the college football world just wants to see how it plays out.

ETA - and they will watch no matter the teams in the playoffs

Honestly after this year the argument totally goes away…. And it’s probably the most fun aspect of college football. Controversy actually generates excitement.

I know, my reply wasn’t directed at you directly. People just need to stop pretending college doesn’t greatly depend on the SEC.

With an expanded field, Alabama and OSU will win more championships, not fewer. I look forward to the chaos that is about to descend on the sport.

I am not sure that I agree with you about that. The South is certainly way more passionate about college football, but the sport is only dependant on the fans and schools, not the conferences. If the conferences were all eliminated tomorrow I doubt that viewership would drop.

And quite frankly, they deserve it. “They” being both sides. Teams like Bama and OSU deserve it since they might as well be playing a different game than 95% of the other teams. And the other side, the idiot casual fans who want “fairness” deserve it too. They asked for this, and they’re gonna get it. They don’t realize they’ve been had.

This is not me wearing crimson colored glasses. This is about recognizing the reality that the SEC has dominated college football for multiple decades and to keep them out of the playoffs is a CRIME.

If we swapped schedules and records with UGA, and they beat us in the SEC title game, there’s not a single person on this board who would have a problem with them getting the #1 seed, much less making the playoffs.

You cannot keep the SEC champion out.

I think most of us agree with you that either a 12-1 Bama or 12-1 UGA that is SEC Champion should have a spot and would be one of the Top 4 'Best' teams and would have the resume to back that up.

But it's that THIS committee has made it clear that Head to Head trumps all. They are incredibly myopic.

I've been saying for weeks we need help because we do.

They will not let us move without Texas losing again or FSU choking and relinquishing a spot.

I think we are one of the 'Best' 4 right now.

We'd be favored on a neutral field against 4-5 five teams ahead of us. We're probably only underdogs to UGA or the tOSU/Mich winner.

But we'd flat paste FSU, Oregon, Wash, and Texas with how we are playing.

This committee seems the least concerned with getting the 4 Best though.
