That's right folks, we've never beaten Texas. Now, we have our shot. However, I want to warn people not too get too caught up in how Texas looked in one game against Nebraska. Lord knows that we have had some close calls this year, including Auburn. You can't just look at how a team played vs. one single opponent in a vaccum.

This NC game will be a very different set of circumstances.

1) both teams will have a month to prepare.
2) Will Muschamp is an excellent defensive coordinator and will come in with a very good gameplan to try to shut down our run game, and he'll have a month to prepare for it.
3) Texas is going to hear all month probably how they are the underdog and they will come out with something to prove.

We better be ready to play our best game of the year if we want to have a chance to beat them. Colt McCoy is by far the best all-around QB we will have faced this season because he is as true of a duel threat as they come. He can scramble like Tebow, but he is a much more accurate and polished passer than Tebow, and he has some excellent receivers. Also, he probably goes up against a defense similiar to ours in practice frequently because Muschamp is a Saban guy and they run similar schemes. By the end of the month, The Texas offense will come up with a good gameplan to open up their offense and to try to pick us apart in the passing game. This game is going to be a HUGE challenge. Anybody that is tempted to come out and say that we are going to roll over Texas better stop and think about what we did to Florida this past weekend, and what we did to Miami in 1992 when we had a month to hear about how we were underdogs and we didn't have a chance. This is kind of new territory for us. With that said, Roll Tide, I think we have the best team and we'll win the game as long as we have the right mindset and we come in hungry and focused.

Legend has it that when Coach Bryant visited Coach Royal and asked his permission to borrow the wishbone, Coach Royal said, "Ok, Paul. But don't ever try to beat me with it."
Just wondering...how many of the seven losses and one tie did Coach Bryant oversee? I always knew we had never beat them, but I never knew how many he coached.

Coach Bryant tied them once and lost 3 times...while at Alabama.

Excellent points. This is kinda uncharted territory for us as we seem to be getting all the love for the beating we put on the Gators. The good thing is that I don't see our coaches allowing the players to get caught up in the hype. It's going to be an interesting month to see how it all plays out.

Someone could probably add to this list but it Seems like CNS has done several "firsts" since being at Alabama.

Never won at Bryant Denny against Auburn (check)
Never gone 12-0 back-to-back (check)
Never been to the BCS championship game (check)
Never had 10 win seasons as a coach back-to-back (check)

Here's hoping we add another check and another statue. :BigA:

I agree with Bobby Joe. Yeah they have a month to get prepared and to get pumped up as the underdog; however, this Bama team is on a mission.

I see no slacking off, I see know "Big Head" mentality coming.

Let's not forget that we have more to prove than just beating FL from last year; we also lost to Utah, which might be the worst feeling Bama has had since the LA Monroe beat down in 2007 or the MSU beat down in 2007.

I have a feeling these boys are motivated to win this game more than we as fans would like to actually see it.

Keep in mind that altough they have a very good defense; they have not played a game against a team with a defense of our calibre all year.

I see our boys hogging the ball on offense and bringing the pain on their no run attack offense with our defense.

Lights out!!!

Oh yea we all know that they the Texas Longhorns play like a girls team , and they are about to play the Greatest team to ever play College Football. Coach Brown needs to forfeit this game , so the Texas fans will not be embarrassed and his team will not want to run and hide after this game . Butt Kicking Time not even a good warm up game !!!!!! I mean Tebow cried , but the whole Texas team will be on the sidelines tears running down their faces in total shock and disbelief.
" Hook em baby Hook em "
Will not be heard after the 1st 5 minuites of the game

I tend to take a page from Coach Bryant's playbook, praise your opponent to the heavens, be very modest about your own team.
Texas sure ain't no "girls school" and Bama is 0-7-1 against them anyway, so they have my respect. This will be a tough game.

I appreciate history as much as the next guy, but doesn't CNS usually respond to questions about the past with "I don't care about the past" responses?
