Bama Players Transferring (catch all thread)

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Auburn’s N2 (Williams, Edge) and N4 (White, QB) ranked players from last year's recruiting class are in the portal.
We’ve already lost N3 (Sayin), and it would suck to lose N2 (Mbakwe), but that seems to be the College Football these days

Was not sure where to place this, but since it is about the Transfer Portal thought this would be the appropriate place. Pretty good read and sheds some light on things I did not know about the Portal.

With how quick he withdrew, my guess is we found some green...

We overstate NIL importance sometimes. Think the staff likely helped him realize he was in a very good spot here. Maybe he got an NIL bump but unlikely it was really significant.

A return for him and a chance to start reallly make sense.

Or maybe he realized No one out there looking was really a better fit.

i just wonder at this point is it even worth recruiting 4 and 5 stars anymore. Like CNS said, why would you do that when they just transfer out for money.

This is where investing strategies come into play. I wouldn't allocate a ton of money to HS recruits, but rather shift my money to picking transfers up in their sophomore year when they're one year into the college game, bigger, stronger, faster and are one year more mature. They are more ready to play than the HS recruit.

HS recruiting classes only matter now based on which players you can keep for 2-3 years. A top five class is only of value if you can get difference makers on the field early, contributing, and keep them.

The 4-5 star player isn’t going to sit three years to compete for a starting position. Patience is not a virtue in today’s college football.

Lane and Coach Prime know all too well. Wonder how long Dabo will be able to hold on to his roster before the bottom falls out.

Y'all can take me to task on this, but I just have never understood the concept that DL was a super-star-sleeper in our QB room.

As best as I remember, he had a good showing in a spring game running the 3rd team, but that's about it.

I know we have had limited "proof" that TS could possibly step in and be a star, but there's far less with DL.

Again, JMO.

And, I'll add, if DL has looked at K. Russell's potential, he probably knows he'd likely be behind him on the DC at the end of spring practice. Frankly, I suspect DL hitting the portal has probably more to do with Russell than TS.
