Disagree. Odom wasn't asked to leave, but He had some maturity problem off the field. Not always consistent. So I don't think he'll be a big threat at Ole Miss. If he can't do things right at Alabama, what makes anyone think He will do right at Ole Miss under Kiffin, whos known to be less serious?
I know he didn't handle his frustration with Milroe as maturely as Law did. But that is to be expected, one was a junior and the other a true freshman. If the kid can mature and he should with age he could be a real weapon for Lane.

Did we say same thing about a certain player named Amari Niblack? Maturity issue at Alabama, transferred to TExas... Still have maturity problem. I'm not confident in Odom RIGHT NOW. Time will tell.

I’d probably have a maturity problem too if I was wide open downfield and my quarterback was holding a milk carton with my picture on it in his left hand and still couldn’t find me.
The pass distribution chart was horrible. Over 40% of our receptions went to two players. It wasn't just Law and Odom who were upset either. Hence the "public apology" from CKD on how "proud" he was for his WR being so "selfless" this season in what they were asked to do.

Brings real juice. OK.

I was ecstatic over his commitment to us and thought he'd be a star. It's a real shame we didn't get the ball in his hands more. This is what happens when you don't have a QB that can distribute the ball to more than a couple of guys.

I figure Lane will make a real weapon out of him.
I will never get used to top talent, talent that is starting or getting significant playing time, transferring after one season because they think the grass (and the green) might be greener somewhere else. I don’t believe this unlimited transfer stuff will last because it simply cannot without nuking the sport. But it sure is frustrating to watch play out multiple times a year. Of course, this assumes that there is no way a court will rule that college players can just stay in college forever with no restrictions. Which I am realizing is a dangerous assumption.

At the end of the 2023 season, our top 5 returning receivers would have been:

Bond
Niblack
Prentice
Dipree
Benson

All but Dipree have now left the program and he'll be gone due to graduation.

While Bond didn't end strong, he started very strong with better stats through the first 1/4 of the season.

Niblack hasn't panned out yet.

Benson more than doubled his production from 23 to 24 so he at least got reps on film for scouts

Now toward the end of the 24 season, we have 4 guys out of 6 on the 2 deep leaving (kinda double counting Prentice).

Bond said he was leaving to play with a real QB (paraphrase)

Our leading receiver from 23 (Burton), didn't want his starting QB throwing to him at Pro day for scouts.

An NFL scout, watching film on Burton, said it was basically watching him running good routes, getting open, and then not getting thrown to.

As you said, we have a head coach who had to apologize to the WR room, and we are losing 4 of the top 6 anyway.

Remember all the talk of the WR revolt when Tua was pushing Hurts. Well, this exodus now is what would have happened had Tua not gotten the job.

I'm not sure I follow that logic. Law, Prentice, and Henderson knew Milroe would be QB in 2024, yet they stayed with the team.
Next year, we are going to have a new QB (i.e. not Milroe), yet they are leaving.

It was supposed to be a true QB competition for 2024, and it wasn't. Just as Law and Odom did, they left due in part to lost trust in the staff, not because Simpson was now going to be the QB. There were more than a few WR's (Law and Odom two of them) who thought Simpson should have been the starting QB this season...sometimes people just want a fresh start with a new staff. That's what these are doing.

Law, Prentice, Henderson had a chance to leave last year while Saban was still HC and they did not.
What makes you think that they did not expect Milroe to be starting QB in 2024 at that time?

They didn't expect the job to be given to him, as it was. Simpson was better at running aspects of the offense compared to Milroe and they were under the impression the QB competition would be legit and if it were Simpson could/would win it. The competition never was legit...

Did not they know that Milroe will be a starter by a Spring Portal window? Everyone knew about that by then.
I think we are making a big deal out of N5, N6, and N7 WRs hitting the portal.

I don't know exactly their thought process. I just know what I've been told and how they felt at year's end. But either way, the QB position has been a central issue for two years now between two different coaches, and players who played under each staff have left because of it. At some point, we need to stop blaming the players for leaving...
