Bama Game Thread: Bama PostGame Thread - Bama vs. OU...

I don’t understand why we were going so slow in the 4th, no need to try and shorten the game when the other team isn’t doing great on offense
We only needed one score--even a FG--to win the game. So from that persepective it made sense. (See also "The Drive" against Auburn)

What didn't make sense is that they weren't calling plays that were in line with that strategy--that, or the OL was doing their turnstile impressions.

He does have a tendency to hold onto the ball too long, many of the Offense issues is Oline play but you cant disregard that its becoming an issue with him.
A good chunk of that would have been worked out had he been starting and developing last year.
Maybe, but you expect your line to give you more than 2seconds and pick up blitzes

I concur. Our only path in is winning the SEC.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure we can beat TAMU.
That’s just not true at all. Yes the FSU loss is an awful one but not this one. We lost to the 11th ranked team by 2 in a game where we were -3 in turnover margin. We have some great wins on our resume that more than compensate for the FSU game. I still say we beat Auburn and we’re in, even if we lose the SECC game (as long as we don’t get just blasted there).

Look I'm not saying it would happen but I think there could be an argument.

Our FSU loss is so far removed from who we are as a team. Of course it will still get looked as record matters.

Our 2nd loss was to #11 who were coming off a bye.

Our 3rd loss, if it happens, would be to our biggest rival coming off a bye on the road with nothing to lose.

We've had a tougher run that just about anybody. We had a record breaking stretch of four games. Our collection of wins tops just about anybody.
The only way we’re getting in with 3 losses is if the 3rd loss is in the SECCG, and even that is dicey IMO. I don’t trust the commidiots.

(And seriously no one is using “commidiots” like I hoped you would. Disappointed in all of you. /bluefont)

My problem with the playcalling is Grubb seems unwilling to craft a plan around the weaknesses of his personnel. I grant that it’s easier said than done. But he reminds me of O’Brien so much in that regard.

We are not what we once were talent-wise. But we are better than 21 points in this game tonight. Even with the three turnovers.

I’m not saying fire anyone. But I am saying without change in this regard, there will be no trophies for this coaching regime.

No but ultimately it’s on the coaches. This isn’t Alabama football anymore and you guys know it. Nobody is afraid to come to Tuscaloosa. OU came in expecting to win the game.

We had twice the amount of yardage and still lost.

Teams fear Georgia, Ole Miss, etc…

Literally every game is a nail biter under DeBoer and you can’t do that in the SEC and expect to win them all.
Typical take after a loss. This is the SEC, everyone thinks they can win.

My major criticism of Grubb is where was the draw play and screen game tonight? If you know they are pinning their ears back, don’t you “slow it down” with draws and screens?

Meh, once we threw a pick 6 I figured we were in trouble. Once we missed the FG attempt, we were in deep trouble.

Defense played fine. Offense isnt good.
Some games it just "feels" like something is off.

The quick 3 and out at the beginning of the game let the air out of the stadium.

Some games, it just seems the ball bounces the wrong way; a defensive punch knocks the ball out; a bad snap occurs which causes a missed FG; etc.

All of that and much more went wrong tonight.

Our team must really be something special, and I mean that. You can’t go against a Brent Venables defense AND turn the ball over multiple times, and still expect to win the game. Yet, we had our chances. I just hope we can finally win convincingly at the Barn.
We lost the game. They did not win it. Their QB looked flabbergasted that they’d won after the game.

If a Conf Champ loss has us out of a 12 team playoff with 2 reg season losses than I give up on College Football.

We beat Vandy by 16 and Tennessee by 17. USCe was a little closer than expected. We beat LSU by 11 and we were favored by 10. Missouri was close and this loss to OU was close but the oddmakers had Missouri and OU as one score games.
