Bama Game Thread: Bama PostGame Thread - Bama vs. OU...

We lost to a really good team that finally has a healthy QB. Special teams cost us this game. Fumbles punt return and missed fg. With our defense we have a chance to win them all from here though. And why we don’t run more zone out of shotgun baffles me. We gashed them several times.

If I counted right, after our 3rd quarter TD, 12 of our final 23 plays were runs. Runs! For a team that has sucked at running the ball all year.

That’s on the coaches, that’s on Grubb for some stupid playcalling.

Maybe I counted wrong though.
That is a normal ratio. Alabama runs the ball 48% of the time. That would have been 11 times out of 23 plays. So, it was normal. Especially in light of the fact that there was more success in the running game than the last several games, it is not surprising.

We wasted a great defensive effort and another outstanding game from Cuevas.

Ty made some mistakes and the Heisman and first round draft talk should stop. He consistently underthrows the deep ball.

Our roster will benefit from some addition by subtraction again this offseason. We've got some highly paid guys not earning their money.

The laissez faire clock management at the end of the first half cost us dearly. We wasted time and forced ourselves into a FG try that no one had any confidence in.

We have an OL that is not playing at level to compete for championships.

To win in the SEC you have to be able to run the ball in the 2nd half.

Our OL inconsistencies are putting significant stress on our QB. He cracked today.

We an OC who has never coached in the SEC and doesn't get that you have to stay ahead of the chains against every defense in the SEC.

All of the above is translating into Grubb calling longer developing pass plays. When you dont have time to throw on a 3rd and 3, you got serious problems.

And another thing, why did we go away from targeting Cuevas in the 2nd half? We could have him settle in the pockets vacated by the edge rushers all night.

it will probably be a 20-19 type of game.
We are stuck in the 20s with this offense. And it continually puts the defense in bad situations so yeah, giving up 19 isn’t a wild guess.

Let us hope it’s not another -3 turnover game. If it is, the game won’t be close. AU will be playing for a bowl game. It will be imperative to jump on them early and make them get down on themselves. We haven’t really done that in Jordan Hare though. Maybe 2011.

I thought the exact same thing when he posted that! I mean, if visiting teams didn't think that they would never win a road game.

I’m pretty sure you guys know what I meant, but then again apparently not so let me simplify it.

Teams used to be beat before the coin toss. Especially coming into Tuscaloosa.

So stop pretending you didn’t know what I meant. Yeah, I mean teams always “expect” to win on the road….but in the back of their mind they know it ain’t happening.

That was my point.

Speaking of which, where was he on that last drive and much of that 4th quarter? The guy was open all night the first three quarters.

DeBoer is coaching, it will be a one possession game, win or lose.
