BAMA Softball - SEC Tournament

Top of 2nd: Ground ball to SS, 1 down for Briski. Briski has one get away and it's a HBP. 1 on for Texas. Base hit to CF, runners of 1st and 2nd for Texas, 1 down. Pitch was out of the zone but she managed to throw her bat out at it. Ground ball up the middle, called out at first, but then reversed on challenge. Texas has bases loaded, 1 out. Ground ball up the middle, knocked down by Young, but everyone is safe. Run scores. Game tied 1-1. Bases still loaded, 1 out.
 
Top of 2nd continued: Ground ball to deep short, throw to third. They called her safe, but she looked out. Play under review. Run scores for Texas. they are now up 2-1. Call changed, out at 3rd, 2 down. Texas has 1st and 2nd, 2 down. They are making good contact on Briski right now. Pop out to 2nd for the third out. BAMA has work to do. After the top of the 2nd, BAMA now down 2-1.
 
Bottom of 2nd: Giles strikes out swinging, 1 down. Vandagriff strikes out on a high pitch well out of the zone. 2 down. Taylor grounds out to SS, inning over. Texas up 2-1 after 2 complete. Other than Pupillo we're not making any good contact so far. We need to tighten up at the plate.
 
Top of the 3rd: Briski gets a fly out to LF to start the inning, 1 down. Base hit to RF, 1 on for Texas. Pretty hard it ball. Ground ball base hit up the middle, Texas now has 1st and 2nd, 1 out. Briski keeps getting ahead, then losing them. Popped up near the left field dugout, caught for the out. 2 down. Still 1st and 2nd, now 2 outs. Murphy out to the mound. Briski just doesn't look quite right today. Almost 70 pitches and we're not out of the 3rd inning, and she's already given up 6 hits. And just like that Texas strikes out chasing a low pitch to end the inning. No damage, Texas still up 2-1. We need to get busy at the plate.
 
Bottom of the 3rd: Hawkins strikes out on a pitch right down the middle. That's 5 strike outs so far for BAMA hitters. 1 down. White strikes out looking. 2 down. BAMA is pretty sad so far at the plate. It's going to be a long day if we don't wake up. Young flies out to CF, 3 down. So far, Kavan owns us. I hope Briski can keep it close so we can mount a comeback. Texas still up 2-1 after 3 complete.
 
Top of 4th: Moten in to pitch for BAMA: Moten gets a K on a 3-2 pitch, 1 down. Young bobbles the ground ball to 2nd, runner safe. It would have been a tough play on a short ground ball. Runner on 1st for Texas. Strike out for Moten, 2 down. Ball in the dirt gets away, WP. Runner advances to 2nd, 2 down. Base hit down the LF line, run scores, batter to 2nd on the throw in. I don't know where we were throwing that ball in, but we should have the runner at 2nd. Now 3-1 Texas. Walk on 4 straight pitches, runners on 1st and 2nd for Texas, 2 down. Now a HBP, bases now loaded again for Texas, 2 down. BAMA just doesn't look right today. Is there something in our gatorade or something. Routine fly ball to LF dropped by Vandagriff, 2 runs scores on what should have been the 3rd out. Ball was in her glove and bounced out. Unbelievable. Not a sun ball, just a plain old drop. Now 5-1 Texas. Might need to put Johnson in LF. She's been much steadier this year. Strike out ends the misery of this half inning. Texas now leads 5-1.
 
Bottom of 4th: I don't know what it is, but so far BAMA has looked completely unready to play this game. It's like we have never had to face the pressure of a big game before. Historically this year, if we get down like this we're pretty much toast. We'll have to see if we can bounce back. Wells leads off - ground ball to 3rd, good throw, dropped by the 1st baseman, so Wells reaches. Pupillo grounds out to the P, out at 1st. 1 down, Wells advances to 2nd. Roman drills one off of the 3rd baseman into LF, Wells advances to 3rd. BAMA has 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Giles walks to load the bases. Vandagriff comes to the plate. She needs to atone for that drop - but instead she strikes out on 3 rise balls. 2 down for BAMA. Taylor strikes out swinging. We can't hit to save our life today. Texas leads 5-1 after 4 complete.
 
Top of 5th: Our pitching has had us in trouble all day, giving up too many hits and too many walks. We need someone to settle down in the circle to give us any comeback chance. We'll see what happens.
 
Top of 5th: Moten still in the circle: fly out to CF, 1 down. Fly out to foul ground in LF, 2 down. Fly out to CF to end the inning. WOW!, finally and easy inning for BAMA. But Texas still leads 5-1.
 
Bottom of 5th: Bottom part of the order coming up. Lets see what they can do. Hawkins - weak pop up to SS, 1 down. White - ground ball to SS, beats it out, safe at first. 1 on for BAMA. Back to the top of the order. Can we get to Kavan now. This is when she fell apart yesterday. Young strikes out. 2 down. Wells grounds out to 2nd. BAMA goes down quietly again. Still 5-1 Texas after 5 complete. Ugly, ugly day so far.
 
Top of 6th: Moten still in the circle, top of the order for Texas: short grounder to 3rd, out at 1st, nice play. 1 down. Texas hitter crushes a 3-2 pitch over the scoreboard. Now 6-1 Texas. The fat lady is warming up. Base hit to RF, 1 on for Texas, 1 down. Low pitch gets away, runner advances to 2nd, still 1 down. Giles is getting a major workout today with all of the balls in the dirt from Moten. Hard hit ball, right off Moten's mid-section, runner is safe at 1st. Hit her right under the belt. Runner on 2nd advances to 3rd. Texas now has 1st and 3rd, 1 down.
 
Top of 6th continued: Moten leaving the game, replaced by Pallazzi. Runner takes 2nd. Texas now has 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Line drive to deep LF, caught by Vandagriff, 2 down, run scores, now 7-1 Texas. Runner on 3rd, 2 down now. Fly out to CF to end the inning. Texas leads 7-1.
 
Bottom of the 6th: Pupillo strikes out on a pitch low and way out of the zone, 1 down. I thinks that's the 10th strike out for Texas. Roman flies out to LF, 2 down. Giles lines out to LF, inning over. Texas leads 7-1. From the looks of things, the fat lady and the entire opera cast are singing away.
 
Top of the 7th: Pallozzi still in the circle: Fly out to CF, 1 down. Line out to LF, 2 down. Line drive base hit up the middle, 1 on, 2 down for Texas. Base hit to RF, now 1st and 2nd for Texas, 2 down. Ground out to 3b, out at 3rd. Inning over, Texas lead 7-1. Last chance for BAMA.
 
Bottom of 7th: Last chance for BAMA, but we don't look like we ever had a chance in this game. We picked a terrible time to play one of our worst games of the year. The pitching was not good, the hitting was atrocious, and key errors in the field put the game out of reach early on. Hopefully we can regroup for the playoffs and get to OKC. Vandagriff flies out to RF, 1 down. Taylor strikes out on 3 pitches, 2 down. That's BAMA's 11th strike out today. Pinch hitter for BAMA - and another strike out. BAMA strikes out 12 times today!!! Thank God this one is over. Texas wins 7-1, and it wasn't that close. Ugly, ugly, ugly is the way I would describe it. Oh well, at least we have a chance to bounce back this year. ROLL TIDE everyone.
