Bama vs. Indy in the Rose Bowl - Jan. 1

There are few things that are circulating around on social media... that are popping out to me.
IU QB, Mendoza's stats v.s. good team and under pressure.

IU DC Bryant Haines trash talking on social media.
IU team had a long layoff and kept things light as regard working out and practicing, lending on his experience at Alabama.

There is something that bothers me about that team. It's not their offense/defense. It's not the HC. It's the assistant coaches and players. Are they really focused? There has been lot of talking from IU side the last few days, mostly from fans and the team. Then you have media saying IU is the best team.

I think lot of rat poison is going to creep into IU team given they've never been in this position before. Alabama has been steady focusing on internal process and they're acting like they've been there before. I think that's going to play a role in determining the game, by their experience... overall as a program wise.

Some do.

I don’t think we have a Pet Peeves thread on the FB board but if we did my Top 2 would be.

1) People referring to the National Championship as that word.
T
2) People who call CNS ‘Nick’

I can’t STAND either.
I’ll add people who never personally knew Coach Bryant referring to him as “ Bear “. I know that CNS is considered the GOAT, and justifiably so, but there’ll only be one Coach Bryant. JMOHO, of course.

I think IU is focusing on Bama’s blowout to Georgia as reason for their confidence. That loss was in part due to Bama’s injuries and being worn down by an SEC schedule. Even Kirby Smart said both teams were not at full strength after the game.

Never knew Coach Bryant but my Dad sure let me know him. I was 16 when he died. I've visited him at Elmwood several times. Saban may be the GOAT but Coach Bryant is the Standard at Alabama.

Indiana scored 20, 30, 27, 55, and 13 points in those games. They moved the ball and out-gained their opponent in every one of those games because…

Their running game is arguably better than their passing game. If teams pull a defender out of the box and play cover 4 against them, they run it a ton. They ran for 100+ in every game you cited.

Indiana averages 251 passing per game and 221 rushing; the rushing includes negative sack yards (also includes some big rushing games against crap teams). Bama averages 270 passing and 110 rushing.

You popped out of nowhere just to just say that. I think you missed the point of the post.

The point for Bama is… stuff the run and pressure Mendoza. Mendoza is not the player that necessarily beats better teams; he’s good but he’s more famous than dominant.

If you haven’t, google Coach Bryant’s first talk with incoming Freshmen early on in his career. The very last thing he says, and how he says it , if that didn’t get your attention…..

Because the ‘stop Mendoza’ narrative is not the best take. I’d rather shut down the run and force Mendoza to throw it 35 times.

Had to look that one up—you’re about 40 miles off.

Not very fact-ey.

Neither is thinking that stopping Mendoza is the key to stopping Indiana. Their run game is their key. And that’s a fact.

A rush of Indiana fans was definitely not what I expected. Funny to see.

I’m enjoying this playoff run with this team, I never know what to expect with them. Kinda reminds me of our Final Four run :ROFLMAO:

If Mendoza can beat Bama with his arm: A. Hats off to him and I'll root for IU to go all the way and B. That means Kane and the defense was woefully unprepared for the game.
