I posted this in Jess' summary thread, but I think it deserves its own thread. Something for y'all to consider.

I watched the great Kurt Warner during the Greatest Show on Turf years while I lived in St. Louis. He lit up the field like a pinball machine the first several years. But, Mike Martz had a tendency to leave him back there with no RB blocking help and he got creamed as he threw. Repeatedly.

Eventually, he got Battered Quarterback Syndrome. And was replaced and, eventually, moved to Arizona. He took them to the Superbowl there and was elected to the Hall of Fame later.

I think that's what we're looking at with Ty.

I love Ty's heart and his love for the game.. I do not like making him a tackling dummy for our opponents. If we must go to a two or three back set to protect him (or our next QB), then so be it!

I see people blaming Ty Simpson, and I did my share of blaming Milroe. However, the biggest problem has been our O Line not winning in the trenches. We were totally dominated in the trenches on both sides. And only lining up 3 on the D line has not worked at all.

Early season Ty would change his protection based on what the defense showed pre-snap. Oklahoma showed/faked blitz on one side and sent blitzers on the other. Kirby was quoted that he got that roadmap of attacking our offense from the Sooners.

Then it seems we have a big coaching problem.
If the coaches don't correct this then we're toast.

He is clearly affected by all the pressure, both physically and mentally. Blaming the OL is obvious but I also blame play design which doesn’t do him any favors whatsoever. We call plays as if we have the 2012 or 2020 OL out there.
yeah, but he has to make some of those throws (short, mid, and long) that he is missing by a mile.

So Ty has regressed so much in last few games, that it's unbelievable. Part of that is injuries and another part is his mental toward the game. This goes back to OP's post and I think he nailed it. When you're getting nailed so much, you get in your own head and then you get antsy and making bad throws. Ty missed lot of open guys last night, and that's part to him being little too antsy. He didn't make efforts to run at time.

We also have to look at the other issues: OL personnel. I still don't think we don't have the right personnel for the OL and for some reason, Roberts aren't part of rotation and it's weird. Best way to get Ty back on the track is to get him healed up, Fix the leaking oil on the OL. Let Roberts practice with 1's for the week. Build the stability. The rotation is biting us and we have to stop that for now.

I would like to see QB2 get some meaningful playing time, regardless of how TS is doing. Coach Bryant used to put in his entire 2nd team offense when the starters were struggling. Sometimes it gave us a spark and a little momentum. But, even when it didn't, it gave the 1s a chance to sit down as a unit and discuss things and get a little coaching.

With the way OL has been playing?

I say it is more scheme than anything. I don’t like how running plays are drawn up and executed. I don’t like how pass protections are called. Many times it is RBs and TEs that are missing blocks are outright missing assignments.

Yeah, we all knew that was going to happen and our staff should have anticipated it and made changes. But it doesn't appear they did or did but it didnt work.

Yep. If TS is hurt or hesitant or lacking confidence, why not give the backup a chance? I'm not saying bench TS for the rest of the game. Just have a few series planned for QB2. Scripted plays if you want. Just do something to change things up and give TS a break to regroup.
