Battered Quarterback Syndrome: A Discussion on Ty Simpson

I believe that diagnosis is a rather broad umbrella. I certainly know of cases where people are unable to get out of bed because the pain is so bad. I know of others, including my father, who found out they had a "herniated disk" while being treated for a different condition with no symptoms at all.

And, this may be nothing but internet speculation gaining momentum because a bunch of people who have no idea are saying it to each other -- kind of like when the president "died" a few weeks ago.

A broad umbrella indeed...

The key is whether - and to what degree, the herniation is impinging upon a nerve root...

I remember it like it was yesterday...

Staring in disbelief how he not only didn't intercept the pass.

But how he appeared to essentially "let" the receiver catch it...

Shortly thereafter, I remember dismantling the media stand and rearranging the furniture in the family room, out of a combination of incredulity and frustration...

Had some splainin' to do the following morning to my then-girlfriend, who'd been asleep upstairs... 😐
It looked to me like he could have knocked it down with his helmet even if he couldn’t lift his arms.

I watched the highlights yesterday- the ball went through both of his arms stretched over his head. He made an amazing vertical leap for it like 10yds downfield. It was just bad luck imo. He was able to get both arms up easy.

Goodness, there are literally tons of articles where Barron admits his torn pec affected his ability to raise his arm on that play: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/532750-alabama-football-mark-barron-ruled-out-for-bowl-game
I didn’t say he didn’t tear his pec or wasn’t playing injured. I just said that I just watched the highlight and the ball went through his arms. That’s all.

Edit: just went back and looked, the play I was thinking about was actually Nico Johnson who had the ball go through his arms, my bad. At ~8:35 in this video.

At ~11:55 AU scores a long TD in their opening possession out of the half where Barron gets steamrolled. Didn’t look like he had a chance at an int to me but the cut is quick so hard to tell, but maybe that is the play everyone is thinking of? He just kind of bumps the reciever. Genuinely curious, not arguing. Like I said I watched it live so my only memory is what I could see from the 20yd line in the student section so I didn’t see any replays or nothin.

I think the poster you responded to did not watch the same play. Gary Danielson even made a comment during that game that Barron looked like he didn't even try to knock the ball away.
Yeah I had a different play in mind, by Nico Johnson (also a TD play). My bad
