When will the Harris Poll be released? Please do not tell me tonight on ESPN, I don't think I can take it.

T Boone said he had his bags packed for NOLA...I replied to him hoping he would have fun watching LSU and Alabama...

Ok St. COULD still jump us, but now it looks like it would have to take an almost unbelievable number of votes swapped...I like our chances

I saw he said that, he said staying in a holiday inn? Really doubt that...

Here's how the Harris Poll works btw:

The 2011 Harris Interactive College Football Poll is comprised of 115 panelists and includes former coaches, players, administrators and current and former media. Panelists are randomly drawn by Harris Interactive from among more than 300 nominations supplied by the 11 Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) conferences and independent institutions. The panel meets Harris Interactive criteria for sample design and is a statistically reliable representation of all 11 conferences and independent institutions.

That is actually a good sign as to what the Harris might do...

Yeah, but the number of AP voters that swaped is a little disheartening.
Last week the Tide received every second-place vote and 1,440 points, while Oklahoma State received 1,259 points.
This week, the Tide received 38 second-place votes and 1,418 points and the Cowboys got 22 second-place votes and 1,400 points

Re: BCS Computer Rankings (as they are released)

Jerry Palm now says based on current numbers and projections, OK State must only pass Alabama by 5 points in the Harris Poll.

Edited: That would mean Ok State would be #2 by 5 points over Alabama. That seems like a very steep climb.
With the Coaches poll now confirmed, and assuming for the time being that the Staples tweet about Wolfe is accurate, we have a .9485 to .9268 lead in the Coaches' poll and a .9300 to .9500 deficit in the computer poll. If we earn at least 2690 Harris points (more accurately, no more than 4 Harris points less than OSU - my numbers match Palm), we're in.

In the Coaches, we lost 0.8505% from last week's total (1399 compared to 1411 last week). If similar losses are seen in Harris, we'll drop from 2756 to 2733. That means to drop below 2690, an additional 21-22 Harris voters would have to flip their votes, on top of the 11-12 I expect. Not likely.

It's looking good. 2690 and we're in.

Of course if the Staples tweet proves inaccurate and we don't get a second #2 computer ranking, it's going to be an extremely close race.
