Best BBQ in the state???

We still like Dreamland. The menu is somwhat limited  but we can't seem to leave Tuscaloosa without going there. I guess we like the vinegar based sauce and besides that the beer is cold.

I've never been to the Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. I like the one here in Mobile although I find them to be inconsistent. I time its great the next its okay. Lately we have been going to the Brick-Pit and its been really good.

Al and Mick's-Snead, Alabama
Briar Patch-Dallas, Georgia
Brown Bag-Northport, Alabama
Williamson Brothers-Marietta, Georgia
Pink Pig-Middle of no where North Georgia Mountains

Yes three are out of Alabama but, are in my state, and there are plenty of Bama fans looking for good BBQ all over the south!!

Yep. That's it. I see you like Williamson Bros and The Briar Patch; any other Cobb Co suggestions? Does Briar Patch have ribs?

When I was at the Capstone (1975-79) I preferred Archibalds to Dreamland. Haven't eaten at either in years. I always stop at the Greentop on my way to Jasper when we come home from Saudi every summer. Also, I make a point to hit Costa's in Huffman. :biggrin2:

Oh yea, I forgot to mention there's no pork here in Saudi, unless you smuggle some in from Bahrain.

I'd be leery of smuggled pork in the Middle East.

It's actually legal for non-muslims to buy pork in Bahrain. So most grocery stores have a separate "pork section". If you go in to buy and tell them you are from Saudi, they'll label it as "veal". You put it in a cooler and take it back across the causeway into Saudi. Most of the time, they won't even look at it, lots of expats buy groceries over in Bahrain (different selection). If they do, they just take it and drop it in the trash.

BamaLuver, I have tried Saucy - Q a couple of times for lunch. Its pretty good. I have only tried their rib plate but so far on both occasions it has been good. I don't think I would rate it as the best in Mobile but it is well worth a visit.

Thanks Crimsonoldtimer -- we'll give it a try. My hubby is still hooked on Dreamland! I'll have to get him to try something different.

As one who no longer lives in the state, let me say how very fortunate you are to be having this discussion. We have some OK BBQ here, but nothing like Archibald's, Green Top, or Dreamland. For a while, we had a Corky's branch here--and it was good--but it closed. Barbarians. And when we lived in Terre Haute, there was absolutely zero BBQ worth eating. Sad. And to quote the late, great Lewis Grizzard, a week without BBQ & I start hallucinating & getting shortness of breath.
Enjoy!
