Heading out in the morning. Wanted to ask if this was a good way to go, or if you know a better way.

1-65 So. to Exit 93, Monroeville, Take US-84 to Enterprise, hook on to 331 South and follow directions to Destin.

Saves time from getting on 331 in Montgomery. Suggestions?

Quickest and easiest way is I-65 to Georgianna, HWY 55 Through Andalusia to Crestview; Crestview to Niceville; cross the Midbay bridge to Destin. Your way would add more time than just taking 331 south from Montgomery. (331 goes through Opp not Enterprise BTW.

That's probably the easiest way. I sometimes take the road out of Florala toward Eglin and come in from the Ft. Walton side. If you are staying on the island, this is my preferable way. If you are at Sandestin, then definitely go 331.

Another bad thing about the Eglin route is that you have to pass through a town named after the barn.

When you get to Florala from 55 you take hwy 85 to Crestview. This is the quickest way!

i know a scenic route that goes down through Andalusia and the conecuh national forest. it pops you out right at Milton, FL which is only 5 min from I-10. then you just scoot over to Destin. it's really a nice ride. let me know if you're interested and i'll give you directions.
I know the way that you are speaking of... you can take another route from Milton and come out by the pier at Navarre Beach. That's one of the most beautiful areas in NW Florida.

Milton is a gorgeous old town with a scenic and historic downtown area. That would be a great route to take if you've got the time.

There is actually a shorter route (the one I was referring to) that takes you through the Conecuh National Forest instead of Florala.

do you get off 55 in Andalusia?
Yes. You take 55 to Andalusia, then 29 and turn left onto hwy 137 through the forest and Wing. This turns into Fla 189 through Baker until it comes to a T. Left to Crestview and down fron there.

I'll have to try that sometime...i was looking at that route on the map...it looks like it might save you about 20min.

Traveled down that way for over 40 years now. If there is a faster way, I don't know about it.

Just take 65 south to Bay Minette and take 59 south till you hit water. Shoo off a few snowbirds, pop you a cold one and you wont care what the name of the city is. Pleasure Island is beautiful this time of year and a lot less crowded.

There isnt no Papa Roccos in Destin. Cold beer, Oyster pizza and college football. It just dont get any better.

BamaLaw's Way

is actually the quickest route. There is one more back-road you could use, but you would have to be from down that way to get it right - it only shaves about 15 minutes off the trip (& sometimes you may get behind a farm equipment that destroys the whole intent) - it's an old range-road. Too hard to describe or give directions for - but other than that one little road, BamaLaw's way is the best one. (You DO take the road that by-passes, the one that goes around there by Crestview Country Club?)

You are correct about the range road. I didn't even attempt to tell that way. You really have to drive with someone who knows it first. Yes I take the shortcut around Crestview on the road running by the CCC. For anyone interested, When you turn left at the T after Baker, cross the Bridge and it is the first turn to the right after the bridge. Saty on this road and it will take you by the CCC and led you to 85 on the south side of Crestview thus avoiding the town.
