Land-locked surfing park...............just for Blake! (Cough, cough.)

Wait.................CCS will have to go, first. Pretty sure he won't take a quitter, either.

Re: Blake Barnett Transferring

Don't know who does it, Don't know when, but one of these days Blake will be jolted into reality, and realize just how big a mistake he made leaving Alabama.
The best Blake can hope for now is to be a 'Big Fish' in a small pond.
Like leaving Broadway to star in a local little theatre group in Auburn.

I hear North Texas is looking for a QB.

Re: Blake Barnett Transferring

So, now that Barnett is gone, did he find his dream JC to transfer to. I thought he had to do that pretty quickly to use the loophole. Did he end up at Blinn like Scam? Krymsonman

He enrolled at Palomar Junior College in California last week. Link

It just seems wrong that he would be eligible to play by next Sept. 30. Even if he can, what school will play their first four games with a #2 qb waiting on Barnett, who has clear potential, but has really proven nothing?

Going to be a lot of drama where ever he ends up. Based on the rumors we heard, that is not surprising.

If he goes to aTm then he actually has a shot based on past history. Until this year, the post manziel period has had multiple qbs starting in games. So there is that

Oh some school will do it...but I can't just imagine the drama that will surround this kid if he replaces a guy who had relative success in the first 4 games next year.

I mean, if that school is struggling it's one thing, but if not, DRAMA!

So long as this family is in tow, particularly the mom, drama will be there, believe me...

Re: Blake Barnett Transferring

Texas A&M has already contacted him. Wow..
I kinda hope that he goes to aTm. I mean, can you imagine how fired up your defense will be to play him? Think his daddy will complain when he is carted off the field in that game?

Re: Blake Barnett Transferring

TAMU is best shot for him because they literally don't have any QB to compete after Knight leave. They have a 2017 QB Connor Blurick, so yeah. I don't mind seeing BB across the field next year. It'll be rude awake for him.

I don't want to see him go to TAMU or Florida. Despite what happened, if he can rise above his meddling parents, I still believe he's an incredible talent and may be a very good college qb.

If he's at A&M that knife would cut both ways. We'd likely get his very best effort.

I figure he'll stay on the west coast and I wouldn't be suprised if it's a school that's not competing at a very high level. At this point, I figure the family goal is about publicity and marketing him for a future draft in the NFL.

Barring a change in personality, its reasonable to assume that BB8 will go somewhere that he can put up NFL-caliber stats irrespective of winning championships. If his goal is to be a high draft pick, there's sound reasoning behind that. Of 32 NFL starting QBs, only eight or nine (by my count) came from a college team that was reasonably an FBS championship contender when he played there; though four of those nine - Carson Palmer, Cam Newton, James Winston and Marcus Mariota - did at least play for one; or, in Winston's case, two. Comparatively, nine played for schools outside the Power 5, including 3 non-FBS schools (full disclosure - this last includes Carson Wentz who, albeit in the FCS, has as many college titles at that level as CNS does in the FBS).

My point? Even if he doesn't start until 2018, he'll still have two years of eligibility. Look what Blake Sims and Jake Coker each did with just one. I'd be more than a little surprised if BB8 doesn't find, at the very least, a mid-level Power 5 or non-Power 5 school somewhere on the West Coast willing to bet that his individual skill will translate into fan/TV interest and maybe a win delta of +1 or +2, making the drama worthwhile.

Then there's the Pac-12. At least eight of its members start a junior or senior at QB this year, meaning at least eight will have a new starting QB in 2017 or 2018. Then, add in early departures - e.g., Josh Rosen at UCLA; Jake Browning at UW. That's probably 10 Pac-12 head coaches that, at the very least, won't want to answer the question, however likely, "why didn't you even try to recruit Blake Barnett, who just lit up your team for 400 yards and 7 touchdowns in your 49-45 loss?"

I think any SEC school planning to pursue him is delusional. As a young man, not paying taxes or much of your own living expenses, you don't leave (or at least stray far from) California twice...

Especially if he doesn't play any better than the guy he replaced.

That's exactly what I was referencing. Going some place where he can make a splash, get noticed, make a name for himself and eventually get his name called during the draft.

That's all some care about, but it wasn't going to work out that way at Bama for him, at least not right now.

Exactly, his ability to play at this level is still to be determined. I mean, I think he's got talent, but at some point he'll have to prove it on the field.

If he expects to start the fifth game next year, he better pick a school that has a water boy running the first team because otherwise, it'll be dicey.

Re: Blake Barnett Transferring

I hope he goes to aTm. The only sad thing is Williams, Allen, and Anderson won't be there to see him...but Minkah says hello
