Boise State's last INT in the Fiesta bowl was emblematic of why...

Of why I don't think that those teams can hang with us in the SEC!

On that last INT, I got the impression that TCU's receiver pretty much gave up on the play. When that Boise State player pumped into him, he just dove to the ground! To me, it looked like he was taking a blatant dive (like a soccer player), in a sorry attempt to draw a pass interference flag.

Whether him falling to the ground was intentional or not, he totally killed his team's chances doing that. He should have been physical, shown some heart, and fought for the ball to make sure that Boise's player didn't catch it. Do any of yall think Julio would have let something like that happen? Heck, he even stripped the ball from a guy this year.

I dunno how much yall will agree with me on this post or not, but this whole matchup irritated me.

The replay looked like the ball popped the receiver in the helmet to deflect it. I don't know if that played a part in the INT or not, but I didn't see a deflection by the defender.

But, yes I agree with you.:)

Trying to be objective, I saw a lot of heart in most of the receivers and players tonight. Would JJ have gone after it more? probably. But JJ is not a typical SEC receiver either. He's an exceptional specimen. I think Boise State and TCU could play with any team in the SEC for one game. However, I still don't think they would be much better than 7 or 8 wins in our conference.

TCU must be sick. They are more talented than Boise, but did not win. That goes to show what good coaching and gameplanning will do. Give the Boise coaching staff all the credit in the world. They outcoached TCU, and TCU on paper had the better team.

I think either one of those teams could beat at least 8 of the 12 teams in the SEC maybe more.
I think so too. TCU's run defense tonight was as good as ours. BSU has talented athlete's on both sides of the ball and they're as scrappy a bunch as you'll find.

But one thing I noticed is that a lot of their skill athletes love the sidelines. I haven't seen as much contact avoidance in one game that I can remember. I still wonder if that style of play would hold up after four or five games into an SEC schedule without a bye.

Apparently you don't have to dive. Just beg for the call like the Boise State player did in the first half. Then they call defensive pass interference when the receiver is the one that basically tackled the other guy.

Agreed - they played great defense. Solid fundamentals, few blown assignments, few missed tackles, great open field tackling. Either would have made the SEC more exciting this year...

Anything is possible for a one game series, with 3 weeks to prepare for your opponent. I don't think either team would make it through the SEC undefeated. The size & speed advantage would takes it toll after 3 or 4 games.

I wold give you that if their talent level didn't improve if they were able to play in the SEC. I would guess that their talent level would be much better if they got to play in a top conference that had the t.v. exposure that the SEC has.

That is not a given. There are quite a few teams that have been in the SEC for a long time and have continued to struggle in recruiting relative to our storied programs. They had another great season and should be proud of it, but we have no idea how they would fare in the SEC over time. This year's version would have done well.

They recruit against the PAC Ten, so inclusion in that conference would help them more...

But last years Sugar Bowl is why they still deserve a chance to try.
And I disagree...get in a decent conference and we can talk. This year's Sugar Bowl IMO shows that a) Utah last year would not have hung with Florida and b) neither would TCU or Boise St. this year.
I'm going with Kornheiser on this one (I hate that guy!)

Boise...Boise...Boise... That's what we will be hearing for quite some time.

Get this, Boise loses TWO starters, one on defense and one on offense and neither are named Kellen Moore. Boise is one of the best coached teams in the country and with their weak schedule and returning starters I see them going 13-1 or 14-0 again next year (depending if they make it to BCS championship game).

They have one little obstacle next year called Virginia Tech that they play in the Baltimore Ravens stadium.
