Question: Border crisis looming, what should be done?

This is an absolute disaster. I know most voters have the attention span of a goldfish, but somehow I don't think any of this will be forgotten in November. It feels like the Biden administration is actively campaigning for Trump at this point.
Oh, it's gonna be a disaster one way or another. The GOP is praying for some kind of confrontation--even if they lose the face off, they'll be all about how they stood up to the libtards.

Never mind the fact that the GOP, in the guise of Mike Johnson, refuses to discuss border solutions with the White House.

And they have fooled some among us into believing that their obstruction is a good thing.

A White House that didn’t give a damn for three years? To quote Biden: C’mon man!

They just want the Texas wire and men removed so they can let more people in. The border patrol is a ferry service for people coming into the country illegally. That’s not what most of the officers want to be but it’s what they are ordered to be.

I guess no attempt Biden has made to get Congress to pass immigration reform and/or fund border security counts with some people despite the fact that all along the way it was republicans either in the house or the senate that blocked much of what he requested. Weird how that works and how republicans refusing to do their damned jobs makes Biden responsible for everything happening, including the current insurrectionist activities of Texas.

And of course some will say he should just do it through executive action.

And the very same tribalists will then fuss about abusing his power for doing so.

Read the nbc article. Couldn’t believe they told the truth.

“And when the ban ends, instead of being sent back across the border, more migrants will have the chance to stay in the U.S. and claim asylum. The extra money is needed to process, shelter and transport them.”

The money requested wasn’t to secure the border it was to process more people into the country when they make fraudulent asylum claims.

Some seem to think because the GOP refuses to cooperate in any fashion to address the border it’s all Biden’s fault.

Dealing with the pro Putin wing of the GOP has been difficult, there seems to be no crisis that will shift their concern to actually trying to make things better for Americans.

I think I’ve seen reports of drownings that were a direct result of the wire. Perhaps those responsible for the wire could be held to account in some way.
Drownings of people illegally crossing? They chose to cross at a dangerous place. I don’t think anyone on the US side would be held liable.

We need workers, let’s streamline the process for making them legally here instead of demonizing them.

They are releasing them into the country with fraudulent claims and they aren’t coming back. I don’t blame them for wanting to come here. I’m sure I would too, but this unconstrained flow is breaking our systems and depressing the wages of lower income people. Even the vaunted sanctuary cities are yelling stop. Go read about what’s happening in border towns. It’s wild.

Yes, that removes the "illegal" part from the equation. This way we know who they are, where they are and what they are doing. Not to mention, that pesky "paying taxes" thing. For the millionth time, why hasn't this already been done?

What an incredibly ignorant post. In one sentence you have basically said screw the facts I will tow the GOP line at all cost. This is that party in a nut shell.

The only ones who have not cared for 3 years is the GOP since they have stopped every attempt at board/immigration reform legislation. Even now Biden says he is willing to work with the GOP but they refuse to even come to the table. The GOP are the ones with zero interest in solving this problem because then they can't use it as a campaign issue anymore.

Undocumented immigrants are paying their taxes today, too

It’s a surprising fact that’s often overlooked in the immigration debate.

Undocumented immigrants pay billions of dollars in federal taxes annually, between tax returns filed and taxes deducted from paychecks, experts estimate.

Here’s a look at why – and how – this is happening.

I worked in real estate (I’m retired), which kept me in touch with tradesmen and laborers and such.
my perspective…a good chunk of those upset about “illegals” are sensitive because the Hispanics bring with them a strong work ethic that many here have abandoned.
