Bowl games not only irrelevant now, but horribly named

Every older person remembers the shock of the Poulan Weedeater bowl.

Birmingham Bowl finally has its matchup. 6-6 Georgia Southern will play 5-7 Appalachian State. For those that don't know, these 2 teams are in the same conference and same division.

This will be one of the better games probably. Rivals!

There are probably only two nonplayoff bowl games that I care about watching. I will watch the Pop Tarts Bowl because it's the Pop Tarts Bowl and it is fantastic. I will also watch the Citrus Bowl with Michigan and Texas. Beyond that, I have no interest in the other bowl games. I don't know how most of these bowls are making money, and if they aren't, then what's the point?

With bowls maintaining and some added despite declining attendance and would guess not great viewership for many of them, my guess is expansion of gambling, betting and market apps

Yes. Texas A&M vs Mississippi State. I don’t recall the year but RC Slocum was the A&M coach and Jackie Sherrill was still at MSU. It went into several overtimes and the score was in the 40s I believe.

Eventually, the playoffs will expand to where the Bowl games will be incorporated as neutral site games and the home games will be eliminated.
