That's pretty clever (and devious).By the end of Sunday, BP aimed to sign up 500 fishing boats in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida to deploy boom.
BP had distributed a contract to fishermen it was hiring that waived their right to sue BP and required confidentiality and other items, sparking protests in Louisiana and elsewhere."
Unfortunately if history repeats (see Exxon) I wouldn't get my hopes up. Exxon never really fully cleaned up their mess in Alaska, and appealed the jury verdict for the sum awarded for damages and the Supreme Court cut the amount.I have to agree with Carville. By the time Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida get done with BP, that corporation will be hurting.
We know a corporation does not have a soul to damn, but I guess we shall see whether a corporation has a backside to kick, or at least a check-book to empty.
Agreed. The corp. has been enriched greatly by having access to these areas for drilling. And they should pay dearly for not safeguarding those areas from something as calamitous as this.I have to agree with Carville. It's never too early for CYA.
