Brag On Your Kid(s)

Got back from Tampa after getting Lily moved into her dorm to begin her sophomore year. After doing so, we went out to eat at a favored Vietnamese restaurant. And then we went to the Lotte Market so Lily could load up on her favorite foods. Lotte is a Koren supermarket with about 15-20 stores. Most are in the DC area, but there are a couple in Tampa and Orlando. This is a fun place to go. Dare I say, it's a grocery store experience that I rate second only to Wegman's. We can get all the Asian fruits, vegetables, and other assorted foods that we love, like dragon fruit.

And there's a line of assorted Asian eateries at one end of the store.

Pretty cool place IMO.

Well…..my youngest got accepted to med school at South Alabama….straight of high school! She applied for the early acceptance program for the University of South AL College of Medicine and got a formal notice of being accepted yest pm. Me and Mrs RJ tide were more stoked than she was  It’s a fairly competitive program: they admitted 11 individuals out of roughly 400+ applicants. Couldn’t be prouder of my little girl

My 10th-grader's robotics team finished 2nd in the state a few weeks ago, and get to go to the world championship in Houston. Should be a great experience. Teams from 66 countries, I'm told.

Hopefully, it lights a STEM fire in him. When I was that age, I was more likely to be smoking Marlboros behind the gym and throwing spitballs. We didn't really have these kinds of opportunities in segregationist academies. I didn't really come around until college.
