BARRINGTON, R.I. – Alabama senior-to-be Brooke Pancake took another step in her quest for the U.S. Amateur title on Friday with a 1 up victory over Erynne Lee in 21 holes at the Rhode Island Country Club.

The Chattanooga, Tenn., native never led the match until posting a birdie three on the 21st hole while Lee carded a double bogey. Lee had a 1 up lead through 15 holes before Pancake evened the match with a birdie on the par-4, 395-yard 16th. Both players halved the next four holes with par before Pancake closed out the win.

Pancake is the second Alabama golfer to qualify for the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur in as many years. Jennifer Kirby advanced to the semifinals a year ago before being knocked out by eventual champion Daniella Kang.

Pancake will get the opportunity to exact revenge for her teammate with Kang once again awaiting an Alabama golfer in the round of four. Kang knocked off Demi Frances Runas 4&3 in Friday’s quarterfinals to continue her quest to repeat.

Saturday’s semifinals will be broadcast on the Golf Channel from 2-4 p.m. (CDT).

A Pancake win on Saturday would reserve her a spot in the final against either LSU’s Austin Ernst or Moriya Jutanugam. Sunday’s final is slated for 36-holes and will be broadcast from 2-4 p.m. (CDT) on the Golf Channel.
