Wanting to know did anyone else catch the 3 minute segment they aired this a.m. on Mark Ingram's Heisman win and an interview with his dad?? Will do my best to find a link, somehow!! RTR
Ditto. They can't say Mark Ingram without saying jail.I wish the news media would stop with the constant reminder that Mark's Dad is in jail. I think it takes away from the moment.
A'int it the truth???Ditto. They can't say Mark Ingram without saying jail.
I did and I thought it was a fantastic piece. Mark Sr talked openly about his failures leading to his incarceration. To me Mark Sr is doing an outstanding job of using his failures as motivation for his son. It seems that Mark Jr and Mark Sr have a great relationship and talk several times a week. It seems that even though Sr is in jail that he is filling his role as Dad in a very responsible way (yes I know he screwed up but he acknowledges it and is making the best of a bad situation). It seems that Mark Jr loves his father and enjoys having a positive relationship with his Dad and is appreciative of the things his Dad has done for him. A very good interview.Wanting to know did anyone else catch the 3 minute segment they aired this a.m. on Mark Ingram's Heisman win and an interview with his dad?? Right now he is the Pride of the Tide. He just won our school's first Heisman and is leading the team into the BCSCG. I think that's an accurate moniker.I saw something on Headline News calling him "The Pride of the Tide"

It's the national news media. If it's not a crisis or some poignant story that makes you pity someone, it's not news.I wish the news media would stop with the constant reminder that Mark's Dad is in jail. I think it takes away from the moment.
I thought the same thing. Mark Jr. didn't seem to have a problem with it so neither should I. (Or anyone else for that matter)I did and I thought it was a fantastic piece. :iagree: RTR!I agree. Verne goes out of his way to remind us of that. But in my mind Mark Sr has done a great job facing the situation and making a positive out of a negative (Unlike the way Tiger is handling his situation. Tiger needs to take a lesson from how Mark Sr is handling his situation). I think it is possible that the way this is playing out could add to the moment and make Mark Jr and Marks Sr's relationship more special in the eyes of the public.
I have to say that the national news media is what it is because we make it so. We created the monster. I guess it's kind of a "chicken or egg" scenario, but I think the media reports what we, collectively speaking, want to see. It's the national news media. If it's not a crisis or some poignant story that makes you pity someone, it's not news.
